Chapter 6:The Secret

The butler was still deep in thought about the tragedy that befell the Tregger family five years ago that caused Dylan's hatred towards his mother to increase.

Five years ago......

June was the eldest daughter of the Tregger family.

She was being forced by her mother, Mrs Tregger to marry William Hathaway, the heir to the Hathaway heritage.

June wanted to marry a simple guy called Arthur Reginel against her mother's approval.

She tried several times to elope with him but was always caught by her mother's men and brought back to the mansion.

She was always locked up in the basement for weeks as a punishment.

She was always tortured to say that she wasn't in love with Arthur Reginel but she was too deep in love to do so.

Arthur too was always beaten up mercilessly but he too never denied the fact that he was too deep in love with June

This always pissed off Mrs Tregger pushing them into further punishments.

Dylan used to hear his sister's cries but was too helpless and scared of their mother.
Whenever he tried to help his sister to escape, he too would be punished mercilessly.

Whenever their father stood up to defend them, he would be insulted to the core by his wife.He was a very calm and silent man. He truly loved his wife and kids but hated his wife's brutality.

This all continued happening till one tragedic day.....

Mrs Tregger had told June that she was to marry William Hathaway by the end of April which was only two days away. June tried to plead with her mom but it was all in vain.

Dylan overheard this conversation so, he called his best friend by then who was Trixxy Hathaway.

They needed to devise a plan since Trixxy knew that her big brother was just a big time player and user . She knew how ruthless her brother could be when it came to money.

Trixxy had to distract Mrs Tregger as Dylan had to free Arthur and June so that they could elope together.

Everything went according to the plan but,

The car June and Arthur were in was crushed by an overloaded lorry and so, they died on spot.

After the news was out,Mrs Tregger put the blame on Dylan which hurt him so bad that it made him hate himself making him emotionally cold thinking that he was not worthy of being loved.

Mr. Tregger noticed this kind of treatment and he started hating his wife more and more

As the hatred increased, he told his wife that they should split up but not legally since Dylan was still traumatized by June's death and was still young.

She never expected this and this caused her blood levels to increase causing her to enter a comma for four years.

In her years of comma,Dylan became more of a stranger towards her.

He became more attached to Mr. Tregger and Trixxy.

But later on ,Mr. Tregger died and Trixxy had betrayed his trust so, he decided to get on with his life alone.

He was still keeping in touch with his elder brother who had gone to study abroad but he also stopped associating with him leaving him abandoned and loney

Even when his mom regained consciousness, he distanced herself from her no matter what she did to attach herself to him.

Though he was very cold, his exquisite facial features and body were god-like and so, the older he grew, the more stunning he became.

Shaking the tragedic memory off, Gilbert headed straight to Mrs Tregger 's room to inform her about Dylan's not returning home.

As he opened the room door, carried a tray with a glass of water and a bottle of pills.

She was seated on a her bedroom sofa with her hands resting on the pilloyon her laplost in her own thoughts.

As he placed the tray down, she suddenly spoke up,

"He still mad at me, isn't it? His not coming home coz I disgust him."

She looked up to face Gilbert with tears welling up in her eyes,

"I really don't need pills anymore Gilbert. I just want my family back. I wanna die so that I can give Dylan peace and so that I can apologize to June, Arthur and my husband too "

"I wanna tell June that am really sorry. It's just that I had forgotten the true meaning of love and how it actually felt to be in love. I was so focused on wanting her to live a luxurious life that I forgot the true meaning of love and the value happiness in marriage."

"I forgot how love felt like when Galled fought the entire Tregger family just to be with me. I am a horrible mother." She now burst into tears.

Gilbert sat next to her on the sofa and hugged her to comfort her while patting her on the back.

Gilbert was more than what he appeared to be. He too had a secret of his own which only Mrs Tregger knew about.

He was the adopted son of the Tregger family who had been abroad for seven years but had returned in secret.

He was two years older than Dylan and was Dylan's favourite sibling but due some circumstances, they had lost contact after some years abroad.

After his return, he had learnt about Dylan's new behavior and as a professional psychiatrist, he wanted to help him so, he came in disguise of an old butler.

He wanted a perfect opportunity to face Dylan but was now looking for a perfect opportunity to reveal his secret identity.....

"Don't cry mom. You are not a bad mother.You adopted a loser like me and cared for me like I was your own child, remember? " He said while patting her back.

"No, no my dear. You are a blessing to me.If I never had you, whose shoulder would I be crying on?And my child can never be a loser in my eyes so don't call yourself that anymore." She sniffled .

"And my mom should never cry. Orelse I will cry too."

"Okay, okay dear. I'll stop. But when are you gonna stop this disguise of being an old butler of the house."

"Till everything gets right....."
