Chapter 31

Ryder's pov

"Dad! Can we have some ice cream?" Cassie
asked and I couldn't refuse.

"Of course, there are many different flavors to choose from in the packhouse's freezer." I replied with a smile.

The kids ran straight back to the house, but I was in no hurry. Today has been a good day, the first full day I've been able to spend with the twins.

They are great kids, Kayden has done a great job raising them.

"I can't wait for them to get their wolves and to play with them." Jax agreed with me.

"True, I think you'll have a hard time keeping up with them. Old furball."

"Screw you." Jax chuckled.

When I got inside, the kids came to meet me with big bowls of ice cream. Kayden would kill me if he knows how many treats they have been eating today.

"Is it good?" I asked Xander.

"It is! Thanks Ryder." He replied and continued eating the ice cream.

I let out the small sigh. "You can call me dad Xander. I-"

The kitchen door of the packhouse slammed open and a warrior rushed in, I was immediately in my Alpha mode.

"Alpha! Sonya has been attacked and they took Luna Kayden!"

"Where's daddy?" Cassie asked and only then did the warrior notice the twins who started to panic.

"Shit.. I'm sorry Alpha I didn't notice them. You're expected in your office, Sonya is there too and won't go to the doctor until she talks to you."

"Thank you, you can go. Come on kids." I took the twins by the hand and hurried to my office. I opened the door and silence descended on the room.

My parents, Sonya, Jason, Thomas and Caleb were in the room. The twins ran to their uncle and I went next to my sister.

Sonya started crying and hugged me. She's clearly been beaten, but she doesn't seem to be in trouble.

"Take the twins to their room and stay with the them." I looked at my parents and they were taking the protesting, crying kids away.

"Okay. Tell me what happened? Where's Kayden?" I asked my sister. I tried to stay calm, but I was actually a second away from having a panic attack.

"I-I don't know. Alana and I were going to meet K-Kayden for a picnic like we have been doing for days-"

"Alana was there!?" I interrupted Sonya who started crying more.

"S-she's o-okay thanks to Kayden, he made sure we didn't get killed. Kayden didn't know how you would react to him spending time with Alana so we kept it a secret. He and Kai have formed a bond with Alana." Sonya continued.

"Of course they have.." I smiled sadly, how could I doubt for a second that they wouldn't accept my little girl.

"And then?" I asked and sat in my chair.
