It felt like hours before both Trevor and Rose entered the dusty room. Panic was evident among both of them. "He's here! This was a mistake," Trevor's voice trembled.
"No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me," Rose reassured. "No! He wants me dead, Rose!" he shouted, pacing. "He wants her more."
Trevor stopped pacing and finally faced Rose. "I can't do this. You give her to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here."
Rose stepped forward and grabbed his arm. "Hey! What are we?" Trevor gulped and said, "We're family, forever."
A resounding knock echoed throughout the manor. Both of the vampires froze. Elena tilted her head and said, "You're scared." Rose gave her a nasty look and told Trevor, "Stay here with them, and don't make a sound."
Trevor moved to stand by my side of the couch, making me scoot closer to Lena. We all waited in stressed silence before finally Rose appeared. Behind her, a man, stood tall. Elijah. He was dressed smartly in an expensive suit with an equally expensive haircut. He was handsome, undeniably so with his golden brown eyes and strong face.
Elena got up to stand almost protectively in front of me. Elijah looks us over with surprise on his face before speeding over.
I let out a gasp as he stood close to Lena and leaned down to smell her. "Human. It's impossible. Hello there," Elijah said with a smirk on his face.
He looked over at me, nostrils flaring as he inhaled deeply. "Why do I smell blood? I specifically told you not to harm the girl," Elijah growled out. Trevor shuffled uncomfortably and murmured, "She attacked me and I had no choice."
Elijah's head snapped towards him and narrowed his eyes, "A human girl attacked you?!"
Trevor nodded meekly, pointing to the wooden stake split in half on the floorboards. "She had it hidden and took me by surprise." Elijah's eyebrows raised with a hum, amusement twinkling in his dark eyes. I just stared at him with a frightened expression
He cleared his throat and stated, "We have a long journey ahead of us. We should be going." I stood up at that, just wanting to get this over with.
Elena looked over at Rose and pleaded, "Please, don't let him take me." I furrowed my brow at that, wondering why she thought Rose would help us after everything they've done.
"One last piece of business and we're done," Elijah said, walking over to Trevor. He hung his head low, "I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry."
Elijah circled him, hands behind his back.
"Oh no, your apology's not necessary," he supplied. Trevor insisted, "Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you."
