Secrets Aren't the Only Things to Come Out

T[aylor and I go back to my place where I asked him if he wanted to just stay over. My parents were out for a few days to visit family so they wouldn't be a bother. Naturally he said yes and we went up to my room. My room was a pretty messy with clothes everywhere, a few old band posters, my bed, and my beloved video game counsel with my TV. I decided to get straight to the point.

"Do you and Alex know each other?" I asked him.

"What are you talking about?" He asked me clearly confused by my sudden out burst.

"I know you and Alex know each other from somewhere. How do you two know each other?"

"I don't know what you're talking about. How could I know her I just met her yesterday with you." He sounded confident but he still wouldn't look me in the eye. Why was he lying? Was it something bad? Did they used to date or something? Taylor was never exactly the one night stand kind of guy but who knows. Weirdly the thought irritated me a bit but then I thought that it wouldn't make much sense for them to hide it like that. But what was he hiding from me? We've been best friends since we could talk and from what I know this is the first time either of us has kept a secret. Well besides that one time I stole half his Halloween stash and told him the cat took it but he believed it, plus we were ten so I doubt it mattered anymore anyway.

"Taylor, I know your lying. Why can't you just tell me the truth? We're best friends, you can tell me anything."

He looked at me and I actually felt bad for him. He looked like a mix of guilty and scared. Geez, what happened that was so bad?

"Ok, we met at a family dinner party of hers. We didn't talk to much but we still recognized each other." He explained rather vaguely.

"Why were you at a family dinner party with her family?" I asked. It was a good question. The two couldn't possibly be related because Taylor has no cousins and I know his only sibling is his eight year old sister.

"I was invited."

"By who?"

"Someone."

"Damn, Taylor just tell me." I said getting rather frustrated. Why wouldn't he just tell me?

"Her cousin invited me."

"Why?"

"Because we're dating!" He yelled and then covered him mouth. Was that it? A secret girlfriend? That's not bad at all.

"That's all? Man I though you were involved with mob or something."

"The mob? Really? That's the first thing you think of?" He questioned me and I just shrugged.

"So, a dinner party eh? Must have ben together a while for something like that."

He groaned obviously wishing that this conversation would end soon.

"We've dated about half a year now." Huh, that's a while.

"And you never thought to tell me? Why? She an ex of mine or something?" I ask and he just looks shameful again. Wait, he's dating one of my ex's?

"No, its not that." He said and I sighed in relief. I wouldn't really care all that much if he was dating an ex but it would just be awkward as hell.

"Then what?"

"Ok, before I say this I have to tell you that you're my best friend and I really need you to listen to what I have to say." He said in a deathly serious tone and I nodded. He sighed and continued.

"She is actually a he named Jason. We met a while ago, got along well and I we ended up dating. I didn't know how to tell you so I just kept it a secret since we went to different schools. He wanted me to meet his family a few months ago and Alex was there, obviously. She kept bugging me today since it was obvious you didn't know. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you but I really like this guy and you're my best friend so I didn't want to loose either of you." He explained. I couldn't say I wasn't shocked. This was news to me. From what I had always just assumed since we met, he was straight. But I guess what was the most surprising is that he thought I would hate him for it or something.

"Dude, we're best friends, why would you lose me? I don't care if you like guys. Go ahead, be my guest. We're still bros before anything." I told him and he just looked relieved.

"So, when do I get to meet this guy?" I asked him and he groaned.
