Things Change

And Then it Got Complicated

Two weeks forward, Alex and I were playing some video games in my room since Juliet had to work and Taylor was out, probably with Jason or something. He was a good kid, I think, I only talked to him for like two seconds before Taylor stole him away. They were obviously into each other though.

"Oh yeah!" Alex yelled after she won yet another game. She was good, as in she had won just as many times as I had times two, or more. It was kind of crushing my self esteem. At first it was healthy competition but it turned ugly fast as we would find ways to distract each other as we played and screaming on the top of our lung when we won. Thankfully my parents weren't home 'cause it sounded like a murder was going on up here.

The two of us had been hanging out a lot lately. Juliet and I still hung out and talked, we went on a date or two after the Starbucks one but she worked a lot and neither of us had declared that we were in any sort of relationship. I don't know what was holding me back but that voice in the back of my mind telling me she wasn't right for me kept coming back up and stopping me. The utter awkwardness hadn't exactly stopped but it had died down a bit. Juliet was sweet and hot and perfect but we were pretty different which seemed to make the difference between my relationship with Juliet and the girl I was with now.

"Ugh, I want a rematch!" I yelled back at Alex even though that would make it our fourth rematch on this one game. Even so we played again when she knocked me over with her body and killed my character.

"Cheater!" I exclaimed, probably sounding like a little kid but I didn't really care.

"What do you think we've been doing this entire time?" She fired back. I stuck my tongue out at her and she did the same back. It was kind of cute. Just a bit. Shut up.

I put in Mario Kart just for the heck of it and we went at it. I pushed her, she put her hand over my eyes, I took her controller, she tackled me to the floor. Yep, she tackled me, sending both out controllers out of our hands. I wasn't about to let her beat me though, no matter if she was a girl or not and pinned her under me. Then it got real weird.

I don't know what made me do it but I did it. I kissed her. And she kissed right back. And then we started making out. My hand went around her waist, and she flipped us over so she was on top. Man, was this girl a good kisser. I've kissed plenty of girls before but she could really kiss. But then she pulled back and got off me before I could say anything.

"Oh crap. No no no no no. That was not supposed to happen." She exclaimed, panicking like a ad women which she sort of was at that moment in time.

"What's up? Why are you freaking out?" I asked her.

"Your Juliet's boyfriend moron. I can't go kissing other girl's boyfriends, especially my friend's." She told me obviously feeling guilty yet still making room to insult me.

"We aren't dating." I told her.

"What? Yeah you are."

"I think I would know if I was in a relationship, don't you think?" I said and she just looked really lost and confused by this point.

"Sure we went on a few dates but we never put a label to it. Hell, we've never even kissed." I explained.

"But she still likes you and I knew that and I still did that. I'm a terrible person."

"No you're not. Look, I don't know if Juliet likes me or not but I do know that we aren't made for each other. Me and Juliet don't have what you and me obviously do." I said finally getting to what the voice in my head had been implying the entire time.

"And what's that?" She asked me half skeptical and half curious.

"I don't know. Really, all I know is that I could be with you all the time and never get bored. I know there is just something between us, be whatever it is, that is too special to ignore. I know you can feel it too."

"I have to talk to Juliet." She said giving me a sad look and leaving while I just watched her go. I didn't really have any other choice. Hopefully Juliet won't say anything to keep Alex from this bizarre thing going on. Man, what a day.
