Cuddles on Friday Night

After an exhausting day, all Nya wanted to do was go to sleep. Or better yet, hibernate until she had to be up again.

She was struggling to keep her eyes open when she entered the monastery, together with her brother, who didn't seem tired at all. Probably because she was the main ninja who'd been needed in the mission, and he only had to be called for backup two hours prior.

"Night," she told him and dragged herself down the hall, completely ignoring Cole's greeting as he walked past her, leaving him stunned. She heard Kai tell him she was tired, but what Cole said flew right past her head.

She was too tired to open her door regularly, so she pushed down the handle and flung her body against the wood. Jay was inside, on the bed, scrolling on his phone, his ankles crossed. He was already in his pajamas—a pair of blue-and-white-checkered boxers and no shirt.

Usually Nya would have drooled at he sight, but she had no intention of even looking at him as she picked out some shorts and a T-shirt and got changed right in front of him.

"You're here early," Jay said. "I thought you'd be back at around one." He glanced at the clock. "It's just turned midnight."

Nya didn't respond as she threw herself onto the covers. She crawled underneath them and let Jay's body heat warm her up when he embraced her.

"How'd it go?" he asked, kissing her forehead.

Nya's eyes were already closed. "Great. We got the guy and—" A yawn interrupted her. She snuggled up closer to him, hiding her face in the crook of his neck. "And brought him to Krypterium."

"What did he do?"

Jay had to suppress a chuckle when he realized Nya was already knocked out by sleep itself, her eyes unmoving and her chest rising and falling in a rhythmic pattern. Smiling, he turned off his bedside lamp and rested his own eyes.

Flirt Later

A loud blast sent shockwaves through the lightning jet's interior and made Jay's skin crawl, an unwelcome feeling spreading through his body. He despised being caught off guard.

When he managed to control the vehicle back again, he activated the shooters and blasted the enemies' jets that were hovering around him mercilessly until they were all brought down.

He tapped the call button on the dashboard's touchscreen and waited as it called up the others.

A few seconds passed, and he grew annoyed at the fact that none of them were picking up the video call until Cole's face popped up. The Black Ninja was inside his own vehicle, fighting the same crew of enemies, just like the rest of the ninja team.

"What's up, Jay?"

"I took down five just now," he informed his teammate. "I wanted to ask how many more there are."

"About twenty more, Jay." Lloyd's face popped up on the screen right next to Cole's. "As far as I can count."

Kai showed up on the screen as well, but he couldn't participate in the conversation as he was busy fighting off a criminal who'd attached himself to the side of his bike. Kai drove around recklessly to get him to fall off, but the guy stayed resilient and seemed to enjoy the fun ride.
