Spoiler warning for Dragons Rising season 2 part 2!
The eerie silence comforted most ghosts that lingered in the darkness, but Nya's thoughts triumphed the hopes she had once had, earlier, before the world had come crashing down on her.
Her dreams of finding Jay had come true, but at what cost?
Her fingers itched to wrap around her half of their Yin-Yang pendant that was hanging down her neck on a silver chain, like she had done countless times over the past three years when she had been sad, angry, or needed comfort, but doing that felt...not so good anymore.
It didn't feel comforting anymore.
Because Jay was not her Jay anymore but solely Jay Walker, or Agent Walker, as he had said during their fight. Ally of Ras, fighting for the enemy, against his own family.
The bitterness it left in her mouth made her stomach boil with rage. After all this time, after all they had been through, after Nadakhan, after Unagami, after Murtessa, after anyone who had come between them, it was now Jay himself who stood between her and him.
Nya kept her thoughts to herself like a secret only she and the universe shared. Kai and the others had tried to talk to her after the fight, but she had stayed quiet mostly.
Now they were back, because someone had to make Nya talk before she would implode.
Yet this time, Nya didn't stay quiet, she turned around from Jay's portrait on the wall she had been mourning over, stood up, and straightened her back. She was sick of them trying to get to her when all she needed was space.
"You guys don't get it," she said, tears gathering in her eyes and dropping down her face. "I didn't...think..." She reached up and wiped the tears away with her gloved hand. "If this hadn't happened, if the merge had never occurred...I would have been Nya Walker today. We were planning to get married, damn it! Now I don't know if I'll ever get to dream of that again."
