Chapter 1: A typical first day

Alarm: *Beep beep beep beep*

Asuka: "Ughhhh....alright, alright...jeez" *Shuts off alarm and gets up*

Asuka gets up and gets dressed before going to the bathroom to look in the mirror.

Asuka: "Heh, look at you Asuka...stayed up playing games again huh? Well, You've gotta get with it! I should probably say good morning to Haruto"

Asuka texts "Good morning!" to Haruto. He gets a text back saying "Yeah, good morning. Don't make me play horror games at night again...please".

Asuka: "heheh...yeah, forgot I dared him to do that." Asuka then looks at the time and sees that it is 9:30AM. Asuka: "OH NO...IT'S MY FIRST DAY OF UNIVERSITY AND I'M LATE DAMMIT!!!"

Asuka quickly runs out the door and gets to the bus stop. While waiting, he gets weird looks from other people.

Asuka: [Same old Japan...I always get these looks from people. I guess they're not used to seeing beastmen.]

Someone then throws Asuka out of his seat.

???: "Move it freak!"

Asuka: "Wah!" *Falls to the ground* "Ugh....h-hey, that was my seat!"

???: "Since when do freaks like you have the right to sit at a bus stop? Get lost!"

Asuka: "F-Fine...I'll stand..."

Asuka waits for the bus to come and gets on. He looks around and gets the same weird looks from everyone. He keeps to himself and sits down, looking out the window.

Asuka: [To this day, I don't know why I was born into this world as a beastman...other than my parents also being beastmen...obviously, heh...but man...I still miss them.]

As Asuka looks out the window, he thinks back to when he first lost his parents to beast hunters. It was when he was 16 years old. He had come home to find his parents dead with a note next to them saying "Death to beastmen". "M-MOM!...D-DAD!" Asuka shouts in fear and grief. Asuka snaps back to reality and takes a deep breath, looking at the floor.

Asuka: [To this day...I don't know who exactly did it...other than that they were beast hunters.]

Asuka thinks to himself. He reaches his stop and gets back to running to university. Asuka arrives and heads to class and opens the door.

Asuka: "Sorry I'm late-" The whole class turns to him.

Professor: *Sigh* "And why is that?"

Asuka: "I slept in. Sorry..."

Professor: "On your first day? Not a good start. Sit down."

Asuka sits down and the Professor goes back to the lesson and also catches Asuka up on what he missed. At the end of class, he is approached by one of his classmates.

???: "Hey, you're one of those beastmen right?"

Asuka: "Uhh...yeah, I am!"

???: "Oh cool! Between you and me, I don't really understand why you and other beastmen are discriminated. It doesn't feel right."
