Chapter four - The Cinema

back to the present

After I had been woken up by Satoru in the classroom where I had dreamed of the horrible memories from my childhood, we decided to grab some food and lighten my mood.

"let's sit in the back," Satoru said as he walked towards the far back table. It was two sofas that were facing each other with a table in between, an average table at a diner. We had decided to eat dinner together today at this "restaurant" I don't think you can call it that when the only thing on the menu is burgers and fries. It was Satoru's idea. He said to us that if he had to pay for it, he should be the one choosing where to eat.

We made our way to the table that he had chosen. As always Shoko and I sat next to each other while Suguru and Satoru sat on the opposite side of us. "I wonder what I will eat today," Satoru said as he looked at the menu. "Dude, they only have burgers on the menu," Suguru said while looking at him with a dumb expression. "Nah uh, they sell burgers and fries," he said with a glint in his eyes.

"Sora, should we leave these idiots and eat some ramen instead?" Shoko asked me, not looking so very amused by the boy's conversation. "I'm considering it too," I said.

"Are you all ready for me to take your orders?" a waitress said. The waitress was a tall and slim woman, around our age. She had beautiful long blond hair and forest green eyes. She might have been one of the most drop-dead gorgeous girls I had ever seen. I looked over at the two boys, and they too seemed astonished by her good looks.

"Yeah, I think we are. I would like a cheeseburger with a cola" Shoko said not even noticing how pretty the waitress was. "I would like the same," I said. "Five double cheeseburgers and a big cola thanks," Satoru said. I am always shocked at how much he can eat. "I will take two double cheeseburgers and a Sprite".

The waitress left when we were done ordering. "Holly fuck, she was hot" Satoru whispered to Suguru. "You know we can hear you Satoru. We aren't even a meter away from you" Shoko said while giving him an ugly glare. "What?!? I can't call another woman hot just because I'm friends with you??" Shoko kicked him surprisingly hard underneath the table.

"who's hotter then? the waitress or Sora??" I almost fell out of the sofa from pure shock by those few words. Why would she ask him that?? Oh my god, how embarrassing. And I who had thought she had forgotten about that dream.

"Huh? You want me to..." "Yes Satoru, I do want you to choose Sora or the other woman," she said with a serious grin. Satoru looked at Suguru for help, but he only gave him a pat on the shoulder. Giving him a sign that he was not gonna let Satoru suck him into this mess.

"Well, I will have to choose Sora. I mean she is my friend, of course, I would choose her" he said with a nervous laugh. I was so embarrassed; I had never wanted to disappear more into the ground as much as I want to now. Luckily for us all, the waitress came before Shoko could say anything more on the subject.

"Here is your food, I hope you enjoy it," the waitress said while smiling as she walked away. The burgers tasted like normal burgers, nothing special. Satoru was enjoying them tough; he swallowed them almost whole. Somehow, he looked attractive while doing so. I had to stop my thought patterns there before they got out of control.

After Satoru had paid for our meal, we decided to go to the cinema. What we were gonna watch there was still a question. It wasn't far to the cinema from the fast-food restaurant we eat at, just a 10 min walk. It had only been a week of school, so the air was still hot. Even though I was wearing a skirt and a crop top, I still felt sticky with sweat.

"Why the fuck is it so goddamn hot today?" Shoko complained as she put all her body weight on my arm. "Shokooo you're gonna wear me out more if you keep dragging my arm down like that" Shoko let go of my arm and looked almost a little offended.
