Play with fire

Miri hadn't seen Akaza anywhere since he dropped her in his living room and disappeared to god knows where. She slowly started to wonder whether he was even in this mansion or whether he left her here completely alone until he needed something from her again.  It was about noon when she encouraged herself to look around the house despite the chance of accidentally running into Akaza or worse: getting on his bad side.

The lower floor was actually very uninteresting.  Of course, there was a cosy extra living room and a large training room in this huge house, but nothing that would have helped her.

She had toyed with the idea of taking some of the kitchen knives. Even though they couldn't really harm these demons, as they weren't made of the same material as the Catana swords, she still hoped that it would at least hurt a little. In the end, though, she had decided that she would rather fight with a Catana than make them unnecessarily angry.

Upstairs, she spotted some guest rooms where she would probably sleep. However, most of the doors were locked, much to her displeasure. After her tour of discovery, she ended up back in the training room and decided to practise her breathing techniques.

Once again, she feels the familiar energy flowing through her body, growing stronger with every breath. This energy not only helped her body to heal, but also strengthened her by giving her extraordinary speed.  As she does not have a Catana to focus her power on and use a more specific breathing technique, she has decided to do her stretching exercises and concentrate on her focus. She stretches her back and takes another deep breath.

As she hears a door slam, her head snaps to the side. It must have been Akaza. She stops her breathing technique and walks curiously towards the kitchen, her suspicions are confirmed when she sees Akaza in the kitchen with his back to her.  She briefly looks at his well-toned shoulders and the muscles one can see under his shirt every time he moves his arms.

"Aren't you humans asleep at this hour?" Akaza grumbles, without so much as a glance at her.

As a matter of fact, it was already dark outside. "Well, actually, we can sleep whenever we want, as long as we do it regularly," Miri replies awkwardly and joins him in the kitchen. "Huh..." Akaza turns to her and puts a plate of noodles on the counter in front of her. "So if you still want to sleep tonight, go to one of the guest beds...I'd show you where they are, but apparently you already know," he says, looking at her closely while grinning and pointing at his nose, "everything up there smells of your perfume."

Miri almost chokes on her noodles when she realises what he has said. "You said I should do whatever I want," she tries to defend herself and Akaza grins, "Yeah, go ahead...". He looks thoughtfully at the ceiling for a moment before laughing, "Oh, Douma's gonna be so pissed by now...." as he disappears from the kitchen again.

When Miri wakes up the next day, it is already midday. She quickly jumps out of bed and pulls on an oversized t-shirt that she finds in one of the many wardrobes in each room. Today, she has finally come up with a plan on how to take advantage of her current situation and maybe actually help. If she remembered Akaza's little conversation with Douma correctly, Akaza was the one who "dealt" with the rest of her group of demon hunters.  For whatever that meant, she still had to find out what had happened to them in the end and if there was even the slightest chance that they were still alive.

Feeling motivated, she goes downstairs and makes herself something to eat before heading back to the training room. Doing her exercises always helped to calm her nerves. If she tried to get this information from Akaza, there was a good chance that she would end up being gagged in her room, or worse, he'd decide it was time to get rid of her... Eventually, she gathered enough courage to go back upstairs, where she last heard him closing a door. Hesitantly, she knocked at the door.

"What?" she heard Akaza's monotone voice from the other side. What a good start, she thought and slipped through the door into his room. He was sitting behind a big table and was looking at some paperwork. Odd, that demons did such things Miri wondered. She closed the door behind her and stepped up to his desk. His eyes shot up and scanned her for a moment before he leisurely leans back in his chair looking at her expectantly. Miri swallows. "I need your answer to some questions" she states firmly.

When he doesn't answer, just raising his eyebrows, she continues, "You said you had to clean up Douma's mess after he left the fight... what happened to the rest of my group?" she asks. Akaza sighs, "And why should I tell you? You see, I have a feeling that you'll only cause trouble...". Of course he would not tell her that. But Miri had expected a reaction like that. Slowly, she walked around the table and sat down in front of Akaza before bending down to face him.

Akaza's eyes immediately shot down to her neckline and then to her lips before he met her eyes again, this time with much more interest and a challenging look. "So you really want to play with fire... dangerous princess, don't you think?" he hums in a low voice. Miri starts to get a little nervous, but she pulls herself together: "For every question I can ask you, I'll give you an answer to everything you want to know...".

"Sounds fair," Akaza replies, sitting up straight in his chair so that he is only inches away from Miri. "As for your question: By the time I got here, most of them were gone, and I just made sure the ones that were left couldn't track Douma or me down and scared them away. I didn't want any pesky demon slayers coming in here" he muses. "So you didn't kill any of them?" she asks. "Nope," Akaza counters, letting the word pop as he says it. Miri is relieved to hear that none of her group members died after her last attack on Douma. At least there was one less problem to worry about.

"My turn, Princess," Akaza says with a mischievous smile. He leans in a little closer so she can feel his breath on her neck as he whispers, "Do I turn you on right now?" His proximity sends a shiver down her spine and her breath hitches as she hears his words. His question was so unexpected that it took her completely by surprise. "No," she shrugs, hoping her voice doesn't sound shaky. She quickly drops to the floor, suddenly feeling as if she has lost control of the whole situation. What did she expect when she started something like this with a demon? Why did she have to react to those flirtatious comments? Akaza chuckled behind her as she quickly made her way to the door. As she reaches for the handle to open it, Akaza is suddenly behind her, pushing the door shut with his right arm, trapping her.

"See, I just can't let you win at your own game,princess... and the problem is that you asked me two questions, you know" he murmurs.
