Today is just like every other day. I never see a change in routine. I get up, get ready, and head to my job. I stare at myself in the mirror, and run my fingers through my hair. Maybe, just maybe, one day I'll see a change. Maybe one day something exciting happen, and my life will be different. But, I guess that's not today. I pick up my toothbrush and start to brush my teeth. If something exciting were to happen, surely it would happen by now. The only exciting thing in my life recently is graduation, I'm just glad to be out of there, away from everybody. Especially my bully and his friends. I hate Seth, but luckily, I'll never have to see him again. I pick up my bag and head downstairs, casting a glance back at my house before leaving. Mom wasn't home, thankfully. She had went out to meet her new boyfriend. I got in my car and stared out at my lawn, it was covered in snow. Despite being the first day of December, it's already snowed. It's going to be a long, cold winter. I sigh, and pick up my phone. As always, I call my best friend, Scarlett. Three rings later, and she finally picks up. "Hey Victoria!" Her voice booms over the phone, "Hello, Scarlett, how's it going?" I laugh to myself, knowing that she hates when I try to be serious. "Aw Victoria! You're funner than that, I know it! Cmon, don't be so serious for once. Maybe this is why you don't have a boyfriend yet." I hear her giggle after the sentence, I know she did not just say that. "Oh please, you don't have one either Scarlett! And I have to be serious, I'm on my way to work and you know how strict they are! They would probably fire me just for laughing." She sighs, "And that's why I always tell you to find a new job, who knows, maybe you can find a higher paying job that also comes with a cute boss. You never know." I laugh in return. "I'm fine with my job! They pay decently. And what does it matter if my boss is cute?" Scarlett takes a minute, and then eventually answers, "Well, you never know. If he's cute he's a win, and if you bagged him you could get a raise!" I roll my eyes knowing she can't see it. "That's not how it works, Scar." I return as I pull into my parking place and stare at the second worst place other than school. "It does work like that, if you find the right boss." I pick up my phone, dreading having to hang up and walk into work. "Listen Scar, I'm at work, I'll call you back later, okay?"
I can hear Scarlett sigh before speaking, "Okay fine, but you better call me back as soon as you clock out." I smile. "Will do then, bye Scarlett." I say, and hang up before she can answer. It's going to be a long day, I just know it. I grab my stuff, and exit my car. I slowly walk to the door and enter, and immediately I'm greeted with smiles and the warm smell of multiple lavender candles. But don't let the happy faces and candles fools you. This place sucks. They do that to lure people in, and once you're here you can't leave. I enter the elevator, and select my floor. Todays only December first, yet there's already tons of Christmas decorations up, as well as people in Christmas sweaters. December is always the worst time for this company, they take Christmas way too seriously! It's kind of insane how much they love Christmas. And yet, despite their love for it, they still make you work on the holiday. I exit the elevator and walk to my office, I sit down and stare at the computer before finally cutting it on. I only have to get through 5 hours. It's not that bad. I can do it. I lean back in my chair, ready to start my day. I hear all my co workers chatting, they all sound so serious. That's normal, though. I keep hearing a mention of a circus. I've only ever heard of one circus that comes around here, but my mother forbid me from going to it. I remember when I was a kid, I tried to sneak out and go to it. She caught me, and lectured me for hours saying if I ever went to it again I would die. Which, I think is a tiny bit dramatic, but, oh well. So she forbid me from going to it because she doesn't want to loose her, "precious daughter," but I know she doesn't think I'm precious. She hates me. The only reason she keeps me around is to get child support, but soon she won't get it anymore. I shake my head and continue typing an email to a client, when all the sudden I hear my name. "Victoria! Hello? Can you hear me?" I look at him. "Yes, Zach. I can hear you. What do you need?" He stares back at me as my other co workers come stand beside him. Kind of creepy if you ask me. "Have you heard? The circus is coming back the 13th and we're all planning to go. You should come with us, go somewhere for once." I turn away from him, and continue to type. "I'm not aloud. Plus, circuses aren't my thing." I hear him huff, but it doesn't bother me. "Come on, you're 18 now! You don't have to listen to her. Come with us, it'll be fun." I close my eyes and think for a minute, before turning back to face him and meet his eyes. "Fine, I'll come with you to that stupid circus."
