"I still can't believe I agreed to go." I muttered to Scarlett over the phone. "They ditched me as soon as I got here so now I'm alone in here, what am I suppose to do?" I sigh in annoyance looking around to see if I can spot any of my co-workers. "You already payed entrance fee, so you might as well stay. I think it'll be good for you! I wish I could come, but I'm going to busy all this weekend. You'll survive though, I know it." Scarlett responded in a funny, hushed tone of voice. "I never liked that circus, I should have told you before but every year people go missing. I'm sure you'll be fine, there's so many people." I stand still, not giving a response to Scarlett. Did she really forget to tell me this? Do people really go missing ever year, or is she trying to scare me. I swallow was an anxious, dizzy feeling come across my body. "It'll be fine, it's probably just a myth, Scarlett. I'm sure people don't actually go missing." I shake my head and continue walking, how could she not tell me this. "No, Victoria, people-." I hang up before she can finish. It's just a silly little rumor that people like to feed into. Right? I keep walking as I look up and see an array of different tents. Some are light, pastel colors. While others have more traditional bold reds and soft whites. There's even a couple black and shirts, gothic looking tents. It seems as tho every tent is a different size and shape. Every tent is different, unique in their own way. There are multiple food courts scattered around, some selling simply hot chocolate while others sell coffee and cinnamon rolls. This place is crowded, and everyone is dressed up in different bright colors. I'm never going to find my bastard co-workers. I might as well choose a tent to go into. I look around and see two that catch my eye. A soft pink, blue, and purple one with white ruffles at the top and bottom. Right next to it, a black, gold, and silver tent adorned with beautiful stars. This dosen't seem like a traditional circus. I think I realized that a long time ago, however. I think I'll go into the star tent, it seems as tho not many people are going in there. I make my way towards the tent and walk into the entrance, immediately being greeted with black dangling beads and the smell of subtle floral scents that I cannot put a name to. I look around, unsure of where to go. "Welcome!" I hear a voice call beside me, I turn and see a woman dressed in a beautiful white dress with a veil over her head, blocking her face. "Come this way, please." She beckons me toward her was we make our way through the tent. She leads me to a room with black vintage chairs, a crystal ball, and a deck of tarot cards. "Please, have a seat." I smile at her as I sit down and she sits across from me shuffling her cards. "If you haven't noticed," she starts, "I am the fortune teller of this circus. Would you like to know your future? Or perhaps would you like to know if anything exciting is coming soon." I take a minute, thinking to myself. "I would like to know my future, please. I want to know what's going to happen from here." I reply hesitantly. She lays down her cards in a row, and gestures for me to choose one. I pick one up and hand it to her. "Ah!" She exclaims. "It seems as though you will be encountering a problem soon. A problem that seems to affect your entire life. Normally, I would be able to tell you more. But this problem, you see, is major. I won't know what will happen in your future until you have encountered this problem, and made your choice. That is all I'm able to tell you. You may leave, now. And please, be careful." Her tone has changed, it seems worried, maybe even urgent. I smile at her, and wave goodbye. This is creepy, I must admit. What does she mean? Why did she sound so scared? It's probably nothing. I'm overthinking. I exit the tent and look up at the sky, it's getting late. How long have I been walking around trying to find my co-workers? How long did I spend in that tent? It doesn't matter. I walk into the pastel tent, immediately being greeted by smiles. I look around, realizing what this rent is about. I see lions jumping through fire hoops. I see panthers doing the same, but somehow they look more majestic than the lions. I take a seat and watch the show, this is much more calming than the last tent. I can hear people exiting and entering. I pay no mind to their commotion, it's none of my business. Someone sits next to me but I don't bother to look their way. That is, until, they say my name. "Look who it is!" He laughs. No. Why him? I sigh, turning to him and meeting his gaze. "What the hell do you want, Seth?" I respond, growing more agitated by the minute. He just looks at me, and smiles. Nothing else. That dick just smiles. "You know, I thought you would have moved away." He responded, turning his head to the side. "To get away from me. But thankfully, you're still here! I still get to have my fun." And with that he kicks my seat, nearly making it tip over. I shake my head at him, and stand up. "What is wrong with you? I mean, seriously, can't I have just a day of peace?" I start to walk away but he gets up and follows. "Aw, come on! Leaving already? I just want to have some fun." I exit the tent, not looking back at him. I walk down some random pathways, seeing more and more strange tents. I think they progressively get weirder. I mean, there's a green and brown tent with frogs painted on it. This place is strange. Maybe I can find an exit and go home. Yes, that's what I should do. Find and exit before Seth can somehow catch up to me. I walk for a few more minutes, stopping a couple times to look at some of the tents. Maybe I'll come back tommorow, maybe Seth won't be here. I hear something, so I look down. A cat! It's adorable. I bend down to let it, and it lets me. That's the highlight of my day. A cat. It's a black cat, with watercolor blue eyes and a scratch on its nose. Poor thing. I stand up and turn my gaze forward, my eyes automatically focusing on one thing in-front of me. An exit. I managed to make it all the way to the opposite side of the circus, and now I've found the back exit. I walk towards it, breathing a sigh of relief. There's no one down these paths, it's a little strange I think. I put my hand on the gates latch, ready to push and be free. But something stops me. I try to pull my hand back but..somebody's hand is on top of mine. Before I know it, there's a rag over my mouth. I start to kick and push, but nothing helps. Oh god. Scarlett was right. What's going to happen to me? Everything's going black. I need to fight it, but I can't. I hear somebody softly laugh before everything goes dark again.
