Well, I guess I didn't quit properly

Needing some peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of the Academy, I check into a nearby motel room for the night. As I check in, the receptionist on desk looks at my uniform.

"You're from The Umbrella Academy?" She says, giving me a look

A few hours ago, after me, Diego, and Luther practically saved Five from drowning himself with alcohol, Allison found her old Academy uniform. Not needing it anymore, she gave it to me, and I guess I'm now an unofficial member of the Academy. Fun times.

"Uh... it's my friends birthday party," I say, making up a lie on the spot, "The theme was superheroes. My parents gave me permission to check into a motel"

She nods, and hands me my keys. I thank her and head to my room. It's the standard motel room, but it's quiet, which allows me to concentrate, so that's what I do.

I sit crossed-legged on the floor, and close my eyes, thinking. Past events flicker through my mind as I think of the moments of the past day or so, how I got here. I declined cake, I heard a bang from Dad's study, I fell back, hit my head...

Wait, the bang. From Dad's study. I wonder-

Clang!

I snap back to the present, and I see a metal tube in front of me. It looks familiar, so I grab it and gently open it:

..........................................................................
Number Eight

Mission: Terminate Number Five for immediate extraction

The Temps Commission

..........................................................................

I sit in shock for a minute, then laugh. Oh, funny. Must be a prank. Though deep down I know it's serious. I'm questioning... everything right now. I'm not going to do it, but I don't know how to tell Five...

I scrumple the paper in my pocket, and go to sleep.

I'll worry about that in the morning.
