(Ollie's POV)

My sister Laura had decided to pay us a visit for afternoon tea. Drew was busy preparing most of what we were going to eat and brewing lots of herbal tea. I was in charge of all of the grilled food; I demanded it. Leora decided to go read one of her comic series while she was waiting to greet Laura.
Laura let herself inside and soon started talking to Leora.
"Hi!"
"Hello."
"How does it feel to be an official part of the family now?"
"It feels great."
I couldn't help but beam in pride as I continued to grill.
"Ollie! Let Drew cook the food and come over here and see your big sister!"
"Don't interrupt me when I'm grilling," I replied, not once looking away from the food.
"Girl, that brother of mine drives me up the wall. Bless your heart for putting up with him."
"I can hear you, Laura."
"If you don't like it, get over here and say something about it!"
"Whatever."
"What are you cooking, Ollie?"
"I'm grilling vegetables, steak, and chicken for the tea Drew is making for us."
"Oh, you both didn't have to go all out for me coming over to visit!"
"It isn't just the three of us, it's four of us."
"Oh, so because your wife-to-be is here with us you go all out. But when it's just me, it's an effort for you."
I couldn't concentrate any longer. I turned to Drew.
"Shall I take over Master Ollie?" he asked me.
"Yes. I have been left with no choice. My dear sister keeps breaking my concentration."
"I'll let all three of you know when everything is ready."
"Thanks..."
With that, I went over to the two ladies.
"See Leora, this is how you get Ollie's attention. You have to ruffle some feathers."
Laura came over and gave me a big hug, but I was so irritated with her I wasn't interested.
"Don't give her any ideas. She starts acting like you, and the engagement is off!"
She put me in a playful headlock.
"Ollie. You ever break this girl's heart, I'm going to have to hurt you!"
She started to squeeze.
"Laura, that hurts."
"Don't care. Don't talk about calling off the engagement when you just told the entire world about you two!"
"You started this."
I wrapped her limbs using my powers and pulled her off of me. I went and sat down next to Leora and took her hand in mine.
Laura ripped off my binds with a great heave of her shoulders and arms.
"I guess all of that training you do at HQ is paying off!" she marveled.
"Yes," I replied.
Laura joined us, sitting across on the other side of the giant L-shaped couch.
"Now I just wanted to ask a serious question to both you while Drew is occupied in the kitchen," Laura spoke in a low, quiet voice.
"And what would that be, exactly?" I replied, getting irritated for the countless time with her.
She looked back to see if Drew was still distracted.
"Did you two get engaged because you're pregnant?"
I felt my cheeks burning into a firey red and I heard Leora start clearing her throat, letting go of my hand to readjust herself, squirming in her seat.
"Why would you think something like that would be the case?!" I snapped, "Do you really think I'm irresponsible like that?
"Shhhh, Drew is going to hear you!"
"Don't ask stupid questions, then! I told you the reason was because the family demanded I confirm or deny the media reports."
"Everyone knows that you two have been rushing home after work together. You're both adults. Things can happen! I was just wondering. You don't have to get so heated about it. Sheesh."

I stood up, deciding to retreat quickly to my bedroom.
As I slammed the door behind me, I slid down to the floor in relief. I ran both of my hands through my hair and continued to lean against the door.
I was so flustered. How could Laura voice my innermost desire right in front of my fiancé like that? I was so embarrassed. I couldn't let Leora know how I felt about it. She'd say I was being irrational. And I knew I was. But these thoughts and desires just wouldn't leave me alone. I had to continue to hide these feelings from her. I was certain they'd wither up and die eventually. Or at least, I hoped they would.
I stood up from the floor, deciding to lay down in bed. I took off my shoes before hitting the sheets.

I thought it was women who had sudden urges to have a baby. But I was probably one of the only few men to be struck with this growing desire.
I had a daughter already. A very bright daughter who was just like me. A daughter who needed to me to be her one and only 'Dad' for as long as possible. She was the beginning of a new start for me. A new way to avenge my parents' deaths.
I knew all of this.
So why was I imagining a life with Leora with our own biological children? We hadn't even known each other for a full year yet. Then again, my dear Anita mentioned about how Leora could be 'pregnant by Solstice' with her sibling...Did she notice something I didn't?
This desire to have a baby with Leora kept coming back to me, over and over, and it was getting harder and harder to ignore...

It had started off as a passing thought. I watched how Leora spoke to Anita on the voice chat when they had first met and I thought she would be good mother someday.
Then recently, the way she went out of her way to make Anita feel included in our next step together as a couple pulled my heartstrings. I pictured her comforting Anita and maybe one or two other little ones.

Before going to sleep last night, I imagined Leora holding a small baby boy in her arms. He looked just like me before I had become an Esper...
When Leora had kissed my eyes in the middle of the night after I had that nightmare, I had fallen more in love with her than ever before...
After we had laid down from having a midnight snack, I pictured a family movie night with a group of our children eating snacks together with me and Leora. I pictured Leora with a slender body but clearly having yet another baby on the way. She looked tired, exhausted, but happy to have our happy little Ramses clan together...

What was I thinking? I was so selfish. Leora might not even want children. The world was a cruel, chaotic place with very fleeting moments of peace...
I suddenly heard a knock on the door.
"Ollie, are you ok?"
It was Leora.
"I'm still embarrassed. I need to be left alone for a while."
The truth was, I needed more time to gather my thoughts and put to rest these irrational desires.
"Can I come in? I want to talk to you about what happened."
I hesitated. If she came in while I was like this, I may break down and tell her what is on my mind. She may even tell me to talk to the therapist about it or something.
"I'm just embarrassed about the way I reacted. I'm embarrassed because I was being completely irrational. Don't wait up for me. We can talk later. I'm sure Laura and Drew wouldn't mind you spending time with them without me."
"Ollie. Please. It's important."
Why was it important? I was curious now.
"Fine," I said, my voice filled with nervousness.
There was no turning back now as my dear, sweet Leora opened the door...
