Moments earlier....

(Leora's POV)

Ollie snatched his hand away from mine as he stormed off to our room. He slammed the door behind him.
"Goodness! What on Earth?" Drew questioned.
Laura looked down at the ground, embarrassed.
"I'm not sure either," I nervously laughed.
There was a silence between Laura and I, not knowing what to say to each other at first.
"I haven't seen Ollie get heated like that in my entire life," she said to me.
"Really?'
"Other than when he wanted to go after Leon, never."
"While we wait for Master Ollie to rejoin us," Drew said, "I can cool and store our food. I'll bring over some hot tea for you both."
"We shouldn't go hungry because of him," Laura said, "He might not be coming back. Can we have a small bite to eat Drew? Please?"
"Well...I suppose just this once," he agreed, "I'll make some small sandwiches before I store the rest away."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, Miss Laura."
Laura looked back at me as Drew got started on the preparations.
"Woman to woman, do you want me to tell you what I think is going on?"
"Um, sure."
"It's either one of two things," Laura began, sitting up straight and counting on her fingers, "Ollie was appalled that I had even suggested you both were having a baby since he doesn't want anymore children or, deep down, he's been thinking about having a baby with you."
My cheeks started burning again. Then I covered my mouth.
"Oh my..."
"It might be the first option though," she repeated, "But then again, Ollie has embraced his role as adoptive father of Anita. He used to hate kids. Never wanted to deal with them and didn't have a clue how to deal with them. It was a learning curve for my brother, to say the very least, when Anita became part of our family."
"I hate to eavesdrop, but are you two talking about when Miss Anita first joined the family?" Drew asked, carrying a tray of food with a cup of tea next to it.
"Yeah. Something like that," I replied.
Drew paused a moment but decided to say nothing as he handed Laura her tray of food.
"I will be right back with yours, Miss Leora."
"Thank you, Drew."
"You're welcome."
As Drew walked away, I decided to go find out for myself what was on Ollie's mind.
"Actually, Drew, I'm going to go see Ollie. Maybe you won't have to cool the food after all if I can convince him to rejoin us."
"Don't hold your breath on that," Laura quipped.
"I'll save some food for you and Master Ollie," Drew offered, "And I'll go ahead and join Laura with my own plate of food. That is, if you don't mind."
"Of course not, Drew," I grinned, "Thank you for all of the preparations."
"You're welcome. It's my pleasure."
"See you both when we return."
With that, I went to go see Ollie.
"You really think he's going to come out after that tantrum he had?" I heard Laura ask.
I ignored her. I wanted to see for myself.

I knocked on our door.
"Ollie, are you ok?"
I waited for him to reply.
"I'm still embarrassed. I need to be left alone for a while."
My heart started racing. Was Ollie really thinking about having a baby with me?
"Can I come in? I want to talk to you about what happened."
I needed to ask him directly. I wanted to know what was on his mind.
"I'm just embarrassed about the way I reacted. I'm embarrassed because I was being completely irrational. Don't wait up for me. We can talk later. I'm sure Laura and Drew wouldn't mind you spending time with them without me."
No. I wasn't going to let him push me away and dismiss his feelings.
"Ollie. Please. It's important."
I waited for him, hoping he would let me come in.
"Fine."
With that, I opened the door. Ollie was laying down on the bed and looking up at the ceiling, his hand on his stomach. He had taken off his shoes, clearly not planning to leave the room for a while.
"Do you mind if we sit up together and talk?" I asked, standing near the door.
He closed his eyes.
"Just another moment."
"Ollie. Whatever it is you want to tell me, we are both adults."
I decided to leave it at that and wait for him to open up.
"I'll sit on the edge of your side of the bed until you're ready."
I was glad that Ollie had such a large bed for moments like this. I was able to sit near the edge of the bed and reach for his foot to give it a squeeze.
"I don't know where to even start," he said, "I don't know how to put it into words."
I looked at him.
"What do you feel?"
"It isn't about what I feel, it's more about you," he said.
"What? What do you mean?"
He finally sits up, not able to look me in the eye.
"Have I done something wrong?" I asked.
"No. You do everything right," he said as he met my gaze and gently took my hand, "It's me who still has a lot of growing up to do."
He kissed my hand, bringing me back to when we first met. Just like that time, I felt a tingling down below. He held my hand gently.
"I know it's entirely irrational and I know the time definitely isn't right but..." He continued, "I get this desire, recently, that I've been trying to keep to myself. But hearing Laura vocalize it...it brought back those thoughts to the forefront of my mind."
I covered my mouth, becoming more flushed in the face than when Laura had asked us if we were pregnant.
Ollie looked more at ease now.
"When did you start feeling like that?" I asked him.
"When I see how you are with Anita, I imagine what it would be like for you to interact with a biological child of our own."
My eyes widened.
"Of course, when we first got together, I knew it was probably just a passing thought. I didn't know what was going to happen between us. But as time has gone on, the thought keeps coming back to me over and over again. That's why I said that it's about how you feel. You're the one who will be having our kids. I was going to keep my desires in check, continue to use condoms, and wait for you to ask me if I wanted to have a baby."
He really had been thinking about this for a long time.
"Well, thank you Ollie for being honest with me. And I think it's really mature of you to recognize that it's not a good time for us and that you would wait for me to let you know when I'm ready."
"Of course I will."
"But Ollie, maybe we could make a deal?"
"A deal?"
I reached for his other hand and held both in mine.
"When Anita starts getting older and has gotten used to having me around, we've managed to dismantle Shadow Decree, and you feel that your parents have been avenged...you can ask me if I'm ready or just tell me you want to have a baby."
"All three of those things may take a very long time," Ollie frowned.
"How soon did you think about having kids together?"
"Well...if it were up to me entirely...another few years."
I squeezed his hands, my heart was beating faster.
"Let's go ahead and have our wedding in a few years then," I said, "A lot of babies are made during honeymoons anyway."
"Are you absolutely sure?" He asked me, "If you change your mind, try and tell me before our wedding night."
"I'm sure. I love you Ollie. I don't know if I deserve you."
"Come sit on my lap for a moment.
I stood up and sat on his lap. He put his arms around me and gave me a kiss.
"I love you too, Leora. And I'm the one who doesn't deserve you."
He kissed me again.
Ollie had absolutely no idea. But I decided to ignore my self criticisms and leave them unsaid.
"I'd love to continue this, but Laura and Drew are probably still waiting for us," he said.
"We have tonight," I reminded him.
"Yes, we do," he smiled.
