(Jennie's POV)

A month passed by after that incident.

We didn't hire Ryujin again but Rosie volunteered to take care of my daughter until we found a more serious one.

I never thought life could be just a little more fulfilling with Jackie.

I love Jisoo and our life together before the baby is everything a woman wants (depending on whether she's straight or not).

We love each other. We're there for each other. We comfort each other in moments when everything feels too dark.

(The sex is amazing too but that's not the main point.)

Now with Jackie, both of us somehow became closer. Sure we bicker more about dumb things involving the baby but now we work together more and I was able to come home earlier too.

I guess life's just perfect.

I go to the hospital the next day and do my routine, voluntary check-up on all the patients.

I reach Junior's room and see Anne reading her book with Junior silently coloring.

"Hey!" I say excitedly.

Junior looks up with a big grin and Anne smiles softly at me and puts down her book.

"Dr.Kim!" Anne says. "They called us here for important news did you hear—"

{{Jennie. I need to speak with you.}}

It's from my walkie talkie.

Anne sighs. "I guess you'll find out what it is and then tell us." She crosses her arms. "Lisa's transplant is in 2 weeks. I feel like they might be getting us ready for it."

I nod and squeeze her shoulder, giving a comforting smile. "Let me go figure it out."

I leave with the door closing behind me.

I meet Darren in his office and I see a hole in his wall while he stares at me calmly.

"Uhh...Darren? Did you punch—"

"That's not important! What's important is that we don't h-have the transplant anymore!" He shouts with frustration and his eyes red.

I feel like my world stopped. "What?"

"She wasn't number 1 priority. She was number 2. The parents had assumed there would be no use for that heart so they sent it to us. But those doctors found an improvement and some hope so they took it back."

"What do you mean 2nd priority?!!" I shout back. "Lisa is going to die without that heart!"

"And that child over there is a politician's 9 year old daughter!"

I throw my clipboard. "Fuck!"

He nods and holds his forehead. "And I don't know how to tell Anne this! Or Lisa! How...." He stares at me.

I look at him and shake my head vigorously. "N-no! I'm not doing that! I'm not going to be the one that tells them!"

He takes a shaky breath. "That girl is operating tomorrow. Lisa doesn't have a transplant. And her condition is worsening."

"We'll...we'll ask other hospitals!" I try.

"I already did Jennie....i already did," he ends quietly and falls into the chair. "She has end of stage heart failure Jennie. She....it's been nearly 3 months. She's considerably underweight. She barely feels like going outside. She only really smiles when she sees you, her mom, Lisa or Rosie. What....what more can she take?"
