Chapter 4 Koko

"If you guys keep going at it you will flip the whole boat over" Taiyō warned Bajiru and I while we were doing some light exercises. I couldn't let go of how useless I felt during the fight with Bamba. It was true that I was just not used to fighting close combat people. The freckled chef was kind enough to offer me some practice as they had their fair share of brawls when dealing with rowdy customers. I was very much caught off guard at first as I didn't imagine Bajiru to be the fighter type of person but they were quick, fast thinking and really used every equipment in their arsenal and even the environment around them to give them an advantage in battle. What scared me even more is that they were going easy on me! I couldn't imagine Bajiru's full potential being used against me so early on. I would've been for sure messed up. I was only able to decently keep up with flexible chef but I knew I needed much more practice before I could handle any kind of combat.

"Hmmm... we got company" Taiyō who was just chopping some vegetables stopped to face the problem. I didn't notice it at first but when me and Bajiru stopped our exercise, I noticed we were surrounded by intruding pirates. They had a bit bigger boat than ours and so could land into our terf with relative ease. I didn't like that.

"Well, well look at this little fella! It's barely a ship! Hahaha" A man with broad shoulders and big arms who might have skipped leg day spoke to us as if he knew our capabilities.

"But you guys do have a lot of food... even a chef! Don't mind me as I take it all! Including the chef! Hahaha!" Taiyō just crosses their arms as the presumed captain babbles on and on.

"As if! I'm not letting you take my things! As a captain, I will protect my ship and friends!" Again, laughter was thrown at me as people didn't seem to take me seriously. Biggest mistake.

"You? A captain? You're just a child! You can't be a captain" I hate when people tell me what I can and cannot be and I wasn't the only one sharing this fury.

"I don't like you disrespecting my captain" Even I was a bit caught off guard when I heard Taiyō speaking up.

"What did you just say? Little punk?" The muscular man with receding hairline walks up to my chef looking angrily as if he has never been talked against before.

"I said... don't disrespect my captain" I could only feel a slight change in atmosphere and almost in an instance the pirates looked terrified, even their massive captain froze in place.

"Get them, Captain!"

"Haha hell yeah!" I stretch out my hands where my small ghosts appear from and float towards every single enemy pirate.

"Mini Horo!" Not only did the ghosts hit the enemies but also pushed them out of my ship and exploded mid air! Making the pirates fall into the ocean to possibly drown. The semi bald captain only got the taste of the ghost explosion but that still rendered him weak. I walked up to him and grabbed his shirt to pull him closer so we were face to face.

"Who... who are you?!"

"Hehe. I'm Mara L Koko, remember that name as I will become pirate king!" I throw him overboard with his men as we keep sailing away from those amateurs!

"Hehe! We're a great team, aren't we?"

"Heh I guess we do" I had already taken notice that Taiyō doesn't really do much to stand up for themselves when people are being mean to them. But their temper was much shorter when it came to their friends. Truly a good friend. I knew I wouldn't regret recruiting them. But they needed to learn how to love themselves too.
