Max's pov

My legs move as quickly as they can, running after her. I have a feeling I know how this will end. I'm sure she is seeing the same visions that I have but most likely from the perspective of the girl that I keep seeing, I know her name is also Anna. She races up the staircase to the third floor. She reaches the top of the stairs just as I reach the bottom. I race up them, my heart beat racing as I follow her. I burst into the room filled with guitars and a piano to watch as her legs disappear through the hole in the roof to the turret. "No no no." I say as I clamber up. "MAX!" I hear her yell. Knowing that's part of the vision. Knowing what's coming next. "Till the end of time!" I hear her say just as I wrap my arms around her middle, pulling her from the edge and safely into my arms. The force of my pull, pushes us down onto the floor underneath my feet. "It's ok. I've got you. I've got you. You're ok." I say, trying my best to calm her down. Seeing her stressed like this is terrifying. My chest rises and falls, my anxiety and adrenaline slowly fading as her breathing also begins to calm. "You see them too, don't you? The visions from centuries ago?" I ask her. I need to know. She slowly nods her head and relief floods my system.

I'm not alone.

My breathing returns to normal as Anna relaxes in my arms. My anxiety leaves my system as I regain control of my breathing. "You see them too. Anna and Max?" She asks, sitting up to face me. "I do, from Max's point of view. I'm assuming you see from Anna's perspective?" I ask and she nods. "So we're connected somehow." I say and she nods. I watch her, I can almost see the gears turning in her head as she tries to think. The look on her face as she thinks is strangely attractive, watching as she thinks. "When did yours start?" She asks me. "Near the end of last year, when my grandfather died. Why?" I answer. She takes the information and I watch as she considers something. "Did you inherit anything from him?" She asks. "Strange questions but yeah, this chain and a few other things." I say, pulling it out from underneath my shirt. "I always wear it. My grandfather never did. Claiming it has bad vibes because one of my ancestors who owned it went crazy and one of them before that was hung..." my voice trails off as soon I say it, it dawns on both of us. I watch as the realizations covers Anna's face. She holds up her hand with a ring on it. "Mine started after I found this ring. I didn't want to take it off and now I think I know why." She smiles. "That's why the visions don't happen while I'm racing." It dawns on me. "Because you can't wear jewelry." She says and I nod. "Maybe those books have an explanation as I found them with this." She says, motioning to the ring. "That's a great idea." I say and we climb down the ladder. I feel much better knowing that she's safe. No wonder I've felt so strongly for her since we met again at the beach, part of the feelings aren't exactly mine. I won't deny that I have feelings for this beautiful woman. She smiles at me and my heart skips a beat, hopefully coming to the same conclusion as me. She takes my hand in hers and the same sparks race through my body that normally do whenever I touch her. We walk towards her room, our lunch completely forgotten.

Annas pov

How did I not realize it before. That this ring was the one causing the problems. They started almost as soon as I put this thing on. I push my bedroom door open and max follows me. I grab the book, climbing onto my bed. Max stands and the edge of my bed, awkwardly. "Come, sit here." I say to him with a smile as I pat the spot on the bed next to me. He walks around the bed and places himself next to me. Leaning against the mountain of pillows I have stacked against the headboard of my bed. I open the first one and read it. I gasp. This must be Anna's retelling of how they met. At the beach. It's exactly how I saw it in my visions. "It's the same beach." I say. "Where we were brought back together." Max says. I feel him shift as he places his arm around the back of my shoulders. I take the hint and lean into his body, shifting closer as we begin to read the notebook which is seeming more like a diary.

Max and I read through the journal. Scouring it for the information that we need. "I saw this." I say. "I saw it too." He confirms. "It's so strange that we saw it from two different perspectives. It's cool and strange at the same time." I say with a small laugh as I turn the page. "Wow." Max laughs. The next pages are a very detailed story of when they slept together. "It's detailed, I'll give her that." I laugh. I feel him chuckle. "That's for sure." He adds as we decide to skip over the details. "They ran away, together." I say. We continue reading and I gasp. "They were married by a witch. She tied their souls to the chain and the ring. So this ring is technically yours as it's from your family then given to mine." I say. "Don't worry, I'd rather you have my ring." He winks which makes me laugh. "And the chain is yours but I think I'll hold onto it." He smiles. "I'd like that." I smile back at him as we continue reading.

"They go to the beach again. No wonder the beach draws us to it. Some major things happened there during their relationship. It's insane that their feelings and memories transferred to us." Max says. "It really is unbelievable that this all happened." I say and we keep reading. They meet up again before he is hung. After that the next page is empty. I gasp. "This is the princess that jumped from the turret. They used to lock the trap door leading up to it but they stopped a few years ago. She killed herself, because she'd rather die than live without him. She wanted to be with him forever." I say looking up at max. "For the rest of time." He confirms with a small smile

I close the book with a sigh. "That explains so much. It's the jewelry. I didn't want to take it off because it tied me to you. Our souls are tied together. It felt comforting because it was from you. I hated the thought of ever taking the ring off." I say, coming to a conclusion as I shift my body to face him. His arm still wrapped around my shoulders. "No wonder I hated taking off the chain whenever I had to race. It's insane to think that it actually worked, the witch managed to tie the souls together. Our souls. I was feeling his feelings. But I do know for sure that the majority of my feelings about someone are completely mine." Max says, his hand reaching up to tuck a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I blush at the meaning behind his words. "My feelings about someone are completely mine too." I admit with a smile. "For the rest of time?" He asks with a cheeky smile on his face. "Well I don't think these feelings are going anywhere soon. So yes, for the rest of time, but I'm not rushing like they did." I say to him, stating my intentions. "I'll wait forever for you." He says before leaning down and capturing my lips in his. I sigh into the soft kiss. Content. My soul is where it should be. With him.
