I walked over to Cheyanne and asked her what was wrong. "My brother, Sean, the one who supposedly 'died' last year, well he faked his death. He's the one who did this," she said, tears streaming down her face. I pulled her into a hug and comforted her. She sobbed against my shoulder and after a few minutes, she looked up at me and smiled, then she kissed my cheek. A smile spread across my face. I grabbed her hand and we walked to her car. "I doubt the answer will be yes, but do you still want to go to dinner tonight?" I asked. "Of course I do! Where do you wanna go?" Chey asked with a smile. I put my arm around her waist and said, "Well I was thinking I could cook dinner and then we could watch a movie." "Okay sounds good to me," she said. "My place at 7:30?" "Well I would say yes but I don't know where your place is at," she said laughing. "I live in Apartment 34 in the Kahanalua complex," I said. "Okay well see you at 7:30," she said as she climbed into her car. She revved the engine, turned on ACDC and sped off. I laughed and climbed into my car and drove to the ball field. When I got there, Kono and the adults sat watching as the 3 baseball players taught Grace and Grover's kids how to play baseball. "Hey monkey, we got plans and everyone is free to go, the man is in prison now so you're good," I said. Grace came running to me and said, " what plans do we have, Danno?" "You and I are cooking dinner for my date," I said. Grace smiled and we walked up to the car, got in, and rode home. When we got there, I put grace to work. She made salad and twice baked potatoes while I cooked steak. While the food was cooking I went upstairs and took a shower. After my shower I put on a blue striped shirt and my usual black pants and walked downstairs. To my surprise, grace had set up the table on the back porch. She put a white table cloth over it, two candles, a bottle of wine, 2 glasses, silverware, and plates. I went outside and took the steaks off the grill. I put one steak and one potato on each plate. Then I grabbed the bowls of salad that Grace had made and set them on the table, too. At 7:30, Cheyanne knocked on the door when I opened it, my jaw dropped. She was wearing a baby blue beach dress and wedges. "You look... amazing," I said. "Thanks," she said, blushing a little. "Hey there, Gracie!" she said waving at Grace. "Hi! Right this way please," she said, directing Chey to the table set up on the porch. The sun was just starting to sink, so Grace lit the candles and the 2 tiki torches at the edge of the porch. Chey and I made small talk all through dinner. After we finished, Grace came back out carrying 2 plates with cake on them. "You made desert, too?" I asked. "Well duh," she said. "It's lemon cake with powdered sugar." "Wow," Cheyanne said. "Looks good!" She took a bite. "Oh my gosh! This is amazing! Where'd you learn how to do that?" Cheyanne asked Grace. "Danno taught me," Grace said. "Ah, so you're a detective who can cook too?" Chey said with a smile. After dinner,I put Grace to bed and Cheyanne and I watched Beetlejuice, her favorite movie. At the end, I looked over and noticed she'd fallen asleep on my shoulder. I laughed and soon thereafter I fell asleep, too.

Crash! At about 4 am, I was awakened by a crash of thunder. I looked over and noticed Cheyanne was gone. I looked out the window and saw her car still sitting in the driveway. Where was she? I looked out and noticed a figure on the back porch. I walked over to the glass door, taking that moment just to look and admire her. I walked out onto the porch causing her to spin around. We don't say a word, but instead watch the storm out over the beach. Finally, at about 5 am, we both go in. "You can stay her if you want. I'll give you a t-shirt to put on," I said. "Are you sure it's ok?" she asked. "Yeah. I'll go change and grab you a shirt," I said and walked toward my bedroom. I changed into a pair of pajama pants. I looked in my drawer for 2 shirts, but only found one clean one. I decided to just give it to Chey and figured I'd be ok without one. I walked back into the living room, handed her the t-shirt, and showed her where the bathroom was so she could change. A minute later she walked out. "I'll sleep on the couch and you can go to my room if you want," I said, plopping down on the couch. "No it's fine. I'll take the couch," she said walking over. "How about we both take the couch? I think just too tired to walk all the way to my room, and I'd say you are too," I said. She laughed. "Okay well it's fine with me if it's fine with you," she said. I wrapped her in my arms and kissed her cheek. I laid down and she laid beside me. She was soon asleep, her head on my chest. I fell asleep around 5:30. We slept until about 11. Kono had picked Grace up that morning for their scheduled spa day, so I wasn't worried when I couldn't find her. Her bag was gone from the hook on her door so I knew that's were she was. I made some pancakes and we ate a late breakfast. "Do you want to go to the Kalanala Bar tonight? My friend is having her engagement party there and I'm supposed to bring a date," she said. "Sure. is formal or casual?" I asked. "Apparently it's formal which is horrible because I have to dress up," she said with an annoyed tone. I walked up behind her, and noticing she seemed tense, I rubbed her shoulders. She turned around and said, "What was that all about?" "Well you seem stressed so I thought I'd help," I said with a smile. She rolled her eyes and said, "I'm always stressed anymore." "Well I think I can change that," I said wrapping my arms around her waist. "Oh really, detective," she started, "and how will you do that?" A grin spread across her face. "Well, I'll start by this," I said, walking to the refrigerator and grabbing 2 Longboard beers. "And then, I'll do this," I said and grabbed her hand. I pulled her out onto the pavement and across the parking lot to the beach. It was the private beach for the apartment complex. "And next, I'll do this," I said, sitting on the sand and pulling her beside me. "And finally I'll do this," I popped the top on both Longboards and took a sip from one, whil handing her the other. "Wow I think it's working," she said laughing. We finished our beers, then she suddenly got up. She grabbed my hand and pulled me into the water. I was in a t-shirt and shorts and she was wearing her dress from last night. After we came up from the waves, we looked each other in the eye. I suddenly felt the urge to kiss her, so I did. In that moment, the world seemed to stop. When we parted, she smiled. We walked back to the apartment and dried off.
