That night Rengoku stayed over at y/n's house staying with her wishing this would last forever. Soon the pair fell asleep.
The next day
As the sun began to show both yours and Rengoku's crows began "caw caw y/n and Kyojuro Rengoku new mission on the mugen train more than 40 people are missing caw caw" you and Kyojuro got ready as you fixed your mask and grabbed your weapon.
As you and Kyojuro sat in a little shop eating noodles you kept hearing his say "tasty" and you couldn't help but giggle "flame hashira!" You heard a young boy say "forgive me for intruding" he said as h welcomed him to sit the two began conversation as you paid attention to your food.
Y/n's pov
I had this feeling in my stomach like something bad might happen and it scares me my thoughts were running in circles apart of me wanted to tell rengoku who I really was but another part of me thought he would look at me like some sort of monster but I never wanted to keep secrets from the one I loved most. "Y/n sweetheart are you alright" Kyojuro asked I smiled and nodded "yeah just thinking" I said with a smile soon after we left and decided to inspect the train station.
After we inspected the train station we heard some commotion and headed towards the sound "well good evening nice weather tonight isn't it" Kyojuro said making small talk with two box lunch sellers "I'm here searching for a demon" Kyojuro said me and the other slayer looked shocked he just had to go out and say it he's so strait forward you thought "Kyojuro don't be so straight forward about it she's a child" you said walking up to Kyojuro but he just smiled you looked back to the child and her grandmother the grandmother looked surprised "what demons what's wrong with you get out of here! I'm warning you!" The child said but all Kyojuro was worried about was her dropping her bean paste bun you slapped your forehead "get out of here! The kid screamed throwing her bean paste bun at Kyojuro's face you burst out laughing "my apologies for laughing Kyojuro" you said wrapping your arm around Kyojuro "there are no demons here because demons don't exist!" The little girl said but you just shook your head "fuku that's enough" the grandmother said "take it easy i don't think he has bad intentions" she said "forgive me" Fuku said looking down In the end Kyojuro bought all there box lunches causing you to look at him in shock "Kyojuro" you said as you sighed you and Kyojuro soon left to venture forth to find the slasher.
Soon we found the mugen train it was beautiful yet there was something dark and wrong "the mugen train ah yes it's faint but there are still traces of a demon" Kyojuro said "hey you two" a man called out "you know this place is off limits right" he said wiping his hands "pardon me but we were sent here by the railway to deliver these boxed lunches" Kyojuro said you looked at him and smiled never knew he was such a good liar "hey this guy brought food" and soon you could here the chatter of other workers soon the guy and Kyojuro got to talking and the guy told Kyojuro that the train would be up and running tomorrow soon we heard a high pitched yell and you and Kyojuro ran to the scene "demon! There's a demon here" Kyojuro's crow said as you and Kyojuro readied your weapons scythe in hand you were ready but apart of you told you that he wasn't the main cause of all the disappearances on the train "demon slayers how annoying" he said before he smelt the human food and he reacted in disgust soon he was zipping around the shed telling Kyojuro and you to do something about it.
Before the demon could slaughter the man Kyojuro went with one slash cutting the arm as Kyojuro helped the boy you went after the slasher "meet me at the station Kyojuro" you said before swiftly chasing after the demon when you arrived at the station you found the demon cornering the girl and her grandmother "First Form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace!" You said holding your double sided scythe you draw your scythe and perform a singular horizontal slash following a crescent shape, creating numerous chaotic crescent blades along its path, still making sure it hits the demon on point and not hitting anyone else "run" you said stalling the demon through you couldn't take it out due to your still healing injuries you could stall through soon Kyojuro arrived and cut the head off the demons neck "flame breathing first from unknowing fire" he said before sheathing his sword "I remember now" the old lady said as she cried "this isn't the first time you saved us I'm sure of it" "what do you mean" the girl asked her grandmother "how could I have forgotten that face and bright hori it's you isn't it please forgive me you saved my life before this if it weren't for you her mother and I would have been killed 20 years ago" the old lady said "grandma what are you talking about?" Fuku asked "ah yes you speak of my father" Kyojuro said turning to the woman "I fallowed in his footsteps and became a demon slayer it is an honor that I have protected you as he did" Kyojuro said.
Before we boarded the train Kyojuro yet again bought all there boxed lunches making you sigh in disbelief as the two of you boarded the train you looked to Kyojuro "what kind of man is your father Kyojuro you never talk about him I'm curious" you said "well my father ever since my mother's death he's become an alcoholic but maybe one day ill introduce you two" he said smiling
As the train rumbled to life, you and Kyojuro found your seats, surrounded by the quiet hum of the moving locomotive. The rhythmic clatter of wheels against the tracks served as a backdrop to the hushed conversations around you. You glanced at Kyojuro, noting the subtle shift in his expression when you asked about his father.
Y/n's POV:
The rhythmic motion of the train and the haunting memories of the last mission played in my mind. My thoughts wrestled with the idea of secrets, wondering if I should share mine with Rengoku. The uncertainty gnawed at me, but the reality of our mission demanded focus.
"Kyojuro, about earlier...," I began, but the words hung in the air, unspoken.
Kyojuro's gaze met mine, a mixture of curiosity and warmth. "You can share whatever is on your mind, Y/n. We're a team."
I nodded, grateful for his understanding. "It's just... I've been keeping something from you."
He listened attentively, concern etching his features.
"I'm not just a demon slayer. I have ties to demons, a history I've kept hidden," I confessed, the weight of my secret finally shared.
Kyojuro's eyes held understanding, and he placed a reassuring hand on mine. "We all carry burdens. Whatever it is, we face it together."
The train's rhythmic journey mirrored the internal struggle within me, but with Kyojuro's unwavering support, a sense of relief blossomed.
The Mugen Train, a vessel of both physical and metaphorical journeys, carried us toward an unknown fate.
(Okay so you did share that but it's not like you told him your the daughter of the demon king or anything)
