I smiled sitting by the tree and nursing little Marceline from my breast, timothy sat by my feet playing with the ornaments on the tree and Viv's children Benjamin and Jospeth making some sort of craft at the table, even if they weren't my children I still let them come and spend as much time as they wanted here accepting them as part of the family, and I didn't find it fair when Josepth wanted to visit Malcolm and benjamin just had to stay behind with viv or alone if viv was out so he was welcome too, I already had two kids to deal with what's two more I suppose.

"Home!" Malcolm yelled as he came through the front door dropping off his keys into the bowl and his jacket on the hook

"Dadda!" Timothy giggled and ran off to give him a tight hug

"How'd it go?" I asked

"Fine" He sighed coming and sitting at the table having a cigarette

"Do you like the tree Daddy!" Timothy giggled

"It looks lovely little man"

"They all helped" I laughed

"You all did very well" He smiled

"Will you tell us a story?" Timothy asked

"Alright, one story then you lot need to get to bed, what sort of story?" He asked and of course, all three boys jumped in with suggestions "Hey hey, Y/n. What sort of story do they get?"

"A festive story I think" I giggled

"A festive story, alright. Hand me little girl" he suggested so I let her finish up wiping her little chin and handing her over he was always better at burping her anyway so he held her close patting her as he began the tale

"once upon a time there were two brothers who lived in an old farming village, one brother named Klaus was a talented woods carver who would spend his days locked away in his cabin as the snow buried the world making wooden figurines, dolls, and toys and he would give these toys to all the little boys and girls of his town who were the good and well behaved that year so they would have a toy to play with though the dark midnighter nights to come over time he expanded not only to his village, but all the children he could find until he gave toys and gifts to all the good children in the world. And his brother krampus who was an very talented blacksmith that would spend his days forging chains and metal works stronger then any known steel and he decided he would help his brother and he went around and gave coal to the children who weren't good enough to get a toy, to show them the destructive nature of their behaviour and that if worked on it had potential to be something far better. And after several years if still you do not change your ways he builds you in chains each a link one of your misbehaviours that will only grow heavier as more are added and if the chain gets long enough that it reached krampus' forge he would drag you down and use you and your coal as fuel for his fire to make the chain for the next unruly child" he explained

And honestly I don't know what I was expecting because all that came of this story was waves and waves of tears from all four of them

"What did I do?"

"You were you Malcolm" I sighed "I'll go make warm milk and cookies to cheer everyone up"

"Ohhh can I have a hot chocolate?"

"No"
