STARLIGHT INCIDENT 07

Chapter 7: The Rift

Time: 4:37 p.m

Down deep in one of the hidden levels of Starlight Corporation, George White is standing in a dark room surrounded by other scientists.

"Ring-Ring "

He suddenly got a call from Sarah Sterling, Max's Mother.

"Hello, George."

"Oh! Sarah, nice of you to call, is there something you need?"

"No nothing, just giving you a call."

Sarah stirred her newly brewed coffee.

"How is Max doing?"

George glanced toward the observation window.

"He's doing fine."

His eyes remained on the glass.

"He's getting close with some of the staff."

"Well that's great."

"How long will Max's examination be finished? It's already been 5 days."

"Don't worry Sarah, I'll inform you when we're finished, it just took longer than expected."

"And besides, there's no place safer than here."

"Well that's reassuring."

Sarah takes a sip of her coffee

"Tell Max that I called and don't forget to feed him three times a day and don't let him stay up too late."

"Ok, I will. Take care Sarah."

"Click"

George hung up the call and continued staring through the glass at Max, who had just finished his latest test.

Max barely moved beneath the machines. His breathing was slow and heavy. A nutrient pack fed him through a tube while automated medical equipment treated the injuries left behind by the latest examination but not fully treating him completely to ensure least resistance.

Max just stares at the floor, there is nothing he can do.

He has stopped counting how many hours or even days that he's been here.

His body felt weak, the pain doesn't even bother him any more.

Max was covered in bruises and injuries from the experiments.

*I didn't do anything."

*Why are they doing this?*

*Why is uncle white doing this?*

George looks at the scientist beside him and asks him...

"How's the data we accumulated so far?"

"It's doing good, we recently discovered that the unknown energy from the child is similar to the energy of the portal you andProfessor Sterling made 16 years ago."

"I knew it! Keep me updated on anything else you find."

"Of course sir.

George was about to leave until he had remembered something

"Oh wait! Now that you mentioned the portal, there was another child with Max when the portal exploded, I think her name was..."

George looked at the screen on his wrist and grinned when found the name.

"Eleina!"

Right before George mentioned Eleina's name one of the scientists accidentally opened the comms, letting Max hear what George had just said.

Max's eye bursts open after what George said.
