Chapter 6: WHY...

Meanwhile, in the Star Light Corporation's medical center, Max lay unconscious in a hospital bed. Professor White sat beside him, waiting anxiously for him to wake.

White stares at Max's unconscious body, a mix of fear and guilt is seen on his face while his leg is restless.

"Oh my god! What have I done?"

"I shouldn't have left Max alone in the lab. I know he's sixteen and mature for his age, but he's still a kid."

"I should've brought him with me or at the very least told him not to touch anything and wander around the lab."

"Oh my! What should I say to Sarah? Tell her that I got her son injured right after he just recovered from a previous injury!"

Please Max! Be ok.

While White was worrying about Max, a shaking glass of water caught his attention, "Is it an earthquake?" said Prof white. The rumbling started to intensify making it difficult for the professor to stand up straight. The lights began to flicker uncontrollably as Neo seeped into the room, slowly filling the air around them.

"What—" White coughed. "What the hell is happening?!"

The professor grabbed his phone and called someone to know what was currently happening.

"Hello? Is there anyone there? What's happening to the building? Hello? Damn it! I can't get a signal. Huh?

As White tries to contact for help, he notices that Max has begun to glow blue and Neo was fusing with Max. Neo grabbed Max and lifted him up, "Max, wake up!" The professor shouted and tried to reach Max but couldn't due to the force from the Neo rotating around Max. Then, blue light started to come out from Max's eyes and mouth, slowly he was blinded by the unbearable brightness of the light, "Maaaax!" White yelled, his voice filled with fear. Everything stopped! Objects fell down and scattered all over the room, windows broken into pieces, dust all over the place, creating a huge mess.

The professor hurries to Max's side.

"Max! Are you ok?"

He grabbed a device from his lab coat, a device that detects Neo energy within a person via a low-frequency pulse that interacts with the Neo energy present within an individual or object. He used the device on Max to check the state of his body since he just absorbed a huge quantity of Neo.

"Quite mind-boggling. These readings are off the charts! He's carrying nearly one hundred times the Neo of an average person. "

Professor White's hands began to tremble. On Earth, humans originally had no Neo in their bodies, only absorbing microscopic, harmless trace amounts over the last sixteen years from the atmosphere—much like trace minerals. Their bodies were never naturally accustomed or evolved to handle high concentrations of it. Under normal circumstances, a dosage this massive should have violently torn Max's body apart at a cellular level.

"He should be dead..." White whispered, sweating profusely as he stared at the glowing blue veins beneath Max's skin.

"With this much Neo, no normal person's body should remain intact. Maybe the mysterious energy inside him is reinforcing his body... or perhaps it's harmonizing with the Neo."

As this information goes through Professor White's mind, his face turned into a blank stare as he hover over Max,

White adjusted the Neotron and focused it on the unfamiliar energy.

The screen flickered.

ERROR.

He tried again.
