Indi was rudely awoken to someone banging on the front door but she didn't have the energy to answer it since she barely slept last night. Only one thing remained on her mind- The compass.

How did it get back to them?

Why did Scooter Grubbs have it?

What did the men from the marsh want with it?

How did it get away from her father in the first place?

"DCS! I know you're in there!"

That was enough to shoot Indi up from her bed and out into the house to where John B had crashed after returning the stolen air tanks earlier that morning. It turned out that DCS was not at their front door and it was in fact JJ finding it funny to mess with them.

Indi harshly flipped him off whilst getting a glass of water from their broken tap. It was a game of water roulette sometimes you got it sometimes you didn't.

"What are you doing here, JJ?" John B groggily asked.

"Isn't it obvious?"

Indi scoffed in response. "Nothing with you is ever obvious, JJ."

"Whatever. We're taking a field trip to visit our favourite hippie, Lana Grubbs," JJ explained, in a duh tone.

Indi and John B exchanged confused glances as to why JJ would ever want to take a trip down to Lana Grubbs' house, especially after her husband had just been found dead.

"Aren't you curious as to why Scooter Grubbs had your dad's compass?"

That was enough to convince John B and Indi to go on the 'field trip' because that question had plagued  both of their minds all night long.

The three of them piled into the Twinkie, with JJ claiming shotgun before Indi could even get the first syllable out.

"Why don't you at least try with Kiara. She clearly likes you," JJ began, already annoying John B and it was barely ten o'clock.

"Debatable," Indi chimed in whilst keeping her eyes glued to her phone. The cell towers had very slowly began to emit signal so she was making the most of every second.

JJ whipped his head around to question what she meant with furrowed eyebrows.

"She's my best friend. We talk," Indi vaguely responded.

"But she kissed him!" JJ argued back. It seemed he was more for this couple than the two actually involved were.

"On the cheek. She kissed me on the cheek," John B clarified. "It's not like we were making out or anything."

Indi's face scrunched with disgust that John B would even put that out in the air. Gross. Just gross.

"I gotta admit," JJ spoke up again, changing the subject. "Your father's compass in Scooter's boat, that's freaky."

"Which is why we agreed to visit Miss Lana. To figure this whole thing out," Indi replied before leaning forward to take the compass from JJ. He was far too careless and clumsy to be holding such an important thing.

"I'm sure she'd love to talk to us. It's not as if her husband just drowned or anything," John B deadpanned as they turned left down the lane that led to the Grubbs' house.

The house was painted pink with the wooden frames painted green, although most of the paint had worn away by weather. Spiritual objects and signs had been planted all around the property.

"You know what this house looks like?" JJ rhetorically questioned as the three stepped out of the van. "Like whoever lives here smokes too much weed."

"You would know," Indi teased, patting his shoulders.
