Knock knock.

"Who is it?" a deep voice from inside the room sounded.

"...It's me, Zhongli."

Footsteps sounded from inside the room, and the door opened. "Y/N? The tea just finished. Come in."

You followed the brunette inside, smelling the sweet aroma of the tea that he was making.

"Seeing as to how you came to me this late of an hour, I trust what you've come to discuss with me must be important for you to even threaten the guards in front of my section doors?"

You blushed vividly, thinking back to how you had threatened the guards that if they even let a peep out of Y/N's visit, she would personally kill them. "That... that wasn't..."

Zhongli only chuckled. "You needn't worry about such trivial things next time. I've already told the guards that if you are to ever visit, to let you in without hesitation and not to let anyone tell anyone."

You take a seat at Zhongli's couch, him ing you a cup of freshly brewed tea. Your ears flick in thanks, and you bring the cup to your lips, the tangy taste of ginger and ginkgo reaching your tastebuds.

"So, Y/N my dear. What brings you to my doors at this hour?" Zhongli asks as he sips at his own cup, sitting down at the couch opposite you. "I assume it's not about what Alatus told everyone today since your tail isn't lashing like usual. Rather... it seems you're nervous."

You could only sigh, tucking your tail in. "Please stop reading me like your reports, Father. It's a little concerning to myself at this point."

Zhongli only chuckled. "Well, I wouldn't have my position if it weren't for my observation, no?" and he sighed. "Yet, despite my high position, I couldn't even..."

You shook your head. "You did more than enough just by finding me that day."

Zhongli only sighed. "Not enough, my dear. Your parents as well as Arasha, Darwin, and Himitsu.... It is due to my incompetence that I couldn't get to them in time."

You sighed. "Father. They left behind the family that is now mine. Perhaps the word, 'family' is not the matter of the past written in blood, rather those tied to you by a red string of fate."

Zhongli could only stare at you, laughing, after a moment. "Perhaps my words influence you too much now. Be careful with that tongue of your, young lady."

You scoffed. "As if, Father. I know the line of work I work in. I wasn't originally called the Jester by you for nothing."

Zhongli shook his head in disbelief. "Perhaps we should revert back to that title, Miss Killer."

You rolled your eyes, shighing. "Alas, I had wished that my reason for coming here could be as simple as a chat. Father... I..." you hesitated before completing your sentence. "I have thought about your offer for the past year now Father. I would like to inherit the Intarnished Dragon Blood."

Zhongli narrowed his eyes. "Are you absolutely sure about this, Y/N?"

You nodded, gripping the white porcelain cup in your hands harder, minding your grip on the porcelain so that your grip allowed a slight opening to your nervousness, yet also ensured that the cup in your hands would not crack.

Your adoptive father only sighed, and summoned ablooding knife. "Keep this on you. Go to your training room tomorrow at midnight tomorrow. Make sure no one knows what you're doing and knows where you're going."

"Yes, Father."
