Confederate pov.
I pulled outta the driveway and told Russia to pick a restaurant off the list on the dash. It took 'em a few minutes but he chose one, and I started to drive in that direction.
"North, you ok back there?" I asked my brother, I looked at him through the rear view mirror, his eyes lookin' out the window, you could tell that he had been cryin', his eyes were red and puffy.
"I'm fine Dixie." Union replied blankly, not meetin' my gaze in the rear view.
"No ya ain't Yankee, tell me the god honest truth, or is it just your separation anxiety actin' up 'cause some of the kids got roped into a social experiment no one wanted?" I questioned him. I didn't mean it to sound as harsh as it did, but it got Union to look at me. His eyes started wellin' up with tears, lettin' me know it was the second thing I said. "I'm sorry for snappin' Union, but you've gotta remember, they're as strong 'n stubborn as you are. Have faith in 'em, they'll come back." I told him apologetically.
"I needed that Dixie, what restaurant did you choose Ruski?" Union asked, changin' the topic away from him, I looked over to the Russian in the passenger seat. The country in question looked mildly concerned at North, but decided it would be best to answer the question before fallin' silent again.
"I picked Olive Garden." Russia told him, not bothering to speak anymore outta silent worry for North.
"Ok then, do you want me to text NATO for everyone's order or do you have them saved somewhere?" Yankee asked.
"I've got them North, just answer this honestly, am I allowed to punch UN next time I see him?" I asked, voice full of genuine curiosity and slight malice, lacin' my now honey coated tone. I looked over at Russia and saw him tryin' not to laugh, I did the same for Ame, lookin' through the rear view.
"We'd have to get there early, and someone will have to hold back European Union, and Association of South East Asian Nations from intervening." He replied blankly.
"So that means it's an early morning tomorrow, Canada just texted me saying that there is a meeting at 10 in the morning." Russia told us, I saw Stripes smile a bit at that, but the smile faltered quickly at the reminder that I had to be there and meet everyone else. The rest of the drive was mostly silent aside from the music playin' from the radio. "This music is soothing, and very well tailored to the people listening to it." Russia spoke up in hopes of breakin' the silence.
"Yea, you can thank the states for that, they liked makin' music, pretty soon the citizens in the region of the states I represent started doin' the same, the kids called it country music, and honestly you can hear our southern accents in the music." I answered lookin' in the rear view to check on Union. I saw him layin' down slightly in the back seat. Russia noticed my gaze in the back seat and checked behind him to see Union sleepin'.
"He doesn't like being away from the kids does he?" Russia asked, lookin' forward.
"No, with everythin' that happened, I don't blame 'em, it tears him apart when he has to leave for longer than a few hours, he spends all his time with the kids, finishing all his work before he leaves the office." I told him, we pulled into the drive through of Olive Garden and I told them my name, and what parts of the order to omit, they told us to pull up to the window after tellin' us how much the price was. I had Russia take the wheel temporarily while I snagged Union's wallet from his pocket. Once I had the wallet I took the wheel back from Russia as he looked at me like I'm crazy. "This ain't the first time I've picked Union's pocket, Russia." I told him, rubbing the steerin' wheel as we drove up to the window. I tapped the small flag on my jacket and made sure Russia did the same before I rolled the window down. I handed the person there Union's card to pay for the food, and drove up to the next window to get the food once the card was given back. I had Russia take the wheel so I could put the wallet back in Union's pocket.
"Hunter, the food?" Russia told me, makin' me aware of the food outside the driver's side window. I quickly returned to my seat to grab the food. I told the person thanks and passed Russia the food as I rolled up the window, and tapping the flag once more.
Mexico pov.
"Lone Star, ¿sabes dónde puso la NASA sus cascos de realidad virtual? Quiero ver si podemos hacer algo divertido cuando Stripes regrese con los Confederados y Rusia." I asked my son. (Lone Star, do you know where NASA put his virtual reality headsets? I want to see of we can do something fun when Stripes gets back with Confederate and Russia.)
"I think so, did ya want me to go get them?" He asked me.
"That would be great Tex." I told him. I heard his footsteps recede into the sleeping quarters, and stop as he reached NASA and NATO's room. After a few minutes of waiting I heard the Texan's footsteps running back to the living room. NATO saw this and gained a small smirk.
"I'll set up the game, and someone is going to have to tell Uncle Dixie that Uncle Aussie is going to share his room for the remainder of the experiment. Also, the game will be set up in the bunker, I have surveillance cameras down there so if you need anything let me know and I'll send someone down, it is a free roam so as long as you stay in the bunker you should be fine." She told me, I nodded and made the note to tell him myself, and the bunker is the safest place to play the game so I had no arguments with her logic.
"Thank you NATO, so I guess this means we're being paired up for this game?" I asked her, genuinely curious about what she's planning.
"You'll see Auntie, I think dad, Uncle Dixie and Russia are back with dinner." She told me, taking the box from Texas and heading down to the bunker to set up the game. After a few minutes NATO came back up as Ame, Confed and Russia walked in with the food. I quickly pulled Confederate aside and told him that he'd be sharing a room with Australia for the rest of the experiment. He nodded and went to tell the Australian in question about this change. Once everyone had finished eating, NATO sent the kids to bed so she can explain the game to the rest of us. "Alright, you all are going to play among us with NASA's vr headsets, you are not allowed to fly, or take off the headsets until the game is done, each player will have three lives, and there will be two players trying to make the game harder, the equipment is in the bunker and already set up, you just have to put the headsets on and press start, thanks to NASA these headsets will transfer your conscious minds into the game, there are suits next to the headsets that will allow you to feel what's happening in the game, if you die three times you will be pulled out of the game, there are 7 levels to this game, each on getting increasingly harder as time goes on, you will be in pairs, and I've decided that it would be the same as the sleeping arrangements, which is why I put Uncle Aussie in Uncle Dixie's room. Now for the rules of the game itself, there will be two players referred to as impostors, those to players will try to kill the other players before all the tasks are completed for that level, each level a different pair will receive the imposter role, now that role is randomized and will not follow the sleeping arrangements as the other pairs do, so watch your backs, and work as a team to find them. That's all, you may start heading to the bunker to prep for the game." NATO explained to us, we nodded and started to make our way downstairs to the bunker. Once we got there and split off into our pairs, and found where our equipment was and put it on we laid on the beds and slid the headsets on and pressed start on the game.
