"In our darkest hour, when the shadows whisper of endings, the divine light breaks through, guiding us back to hope."The Navratri pandal was bathed in soft light, casting a warm glow over the entire area. Strings of marigold and rose flowers draped elegantly from the tents, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. At the center of it all stood the idol of Goddess Durga, magnificent in her glory, surrounded by intricate decorations that highlighted her divine presence. It was already 11 pm, and the neighborhood had gathered in full swing, the lively beats of dandiya music echoed, and everyone joined the dance.
Shanaya's family blended into the celebration just like every year. Her father's escape plan was unfolding exactly as intended. Ekaksh's men, vigilant and scattered around the pandal, kept a close eye on Shanaya and her family. She had to slip away right under their watch. As she danced gracefully in her dandiya-night lehenga, her heart raced maniacally, pounding so hard it drowned out the music in her ears. Fear clawed at her insides, and her feet trembled with every step, the thought of failure like a dark cloud looming over her. If she messed up the plan, she knew the consequences would be disastrous.
"Hey Durga maa bas sab apne hatho me hai, is bar mujhpar kripa kar dena"
She whispered under her breath looking at mata. From the corner of her eye, she could see Ekaksh's men on high alert, their gaze never leaving her. Her breaths grew shallow, the weight of the situation pressing down on her, but she forced herself to keep moving, pretending nothing was amiss. Suddenly, a group of professional dancers entered the pandal, their heavy garba lehengas swirling with every step. Their faces were hidden behind veils that reached their chins, they danced with the people highlighting the event.
After an hour of celebration, Shanaya slowly made her way out of the dance area, her movements catching the attention of the guards, who instantly became more alert. She walked toward her mother, who was chatting with some ladies. Leaning her head on her mother's shoulder, she groaned, "Maa, my legs are giving up now, and I'm feeling so tired and sleepy. Should we go home?"
