(That's how I imagine her face)
Sipping my coffee and muttering some colorful curse words about my friend, I stood at the Jaipur airport, watching the crowd move in every direction. The noise of people faded as families reunited, some hugging tightly and others wiping away tears as they bid farewell with their loved ones. I couldn’t help but wonder if anyone would shed tears for me when I leave their life or if anyone would embrace me with love when I return. With a sigh, I turned my attention back to waiting for my late friend.Getting permission to travel all the way from Gujarat to Jaipur for her wedding had been a challenge, and I knew this might be the only time I’d get to attend a function out of state, as I remembered my father's word.
"I'm only letting you go because Aditi's father especially called me regarding this, so don't hype up your expectation for any next time because there won't be any"
My father agreed to let me come because he knew Aditi and had once operated on her father. I pushed away the not-so-good memories of my father and focused on the excitement of seeing Aditi again.
“SHANAYA!” I heard someone call my name. I turned to the left just in time to be swept into a bone-crushing hug by Aditi, her face lit up with joy.
Aditi Singhaniya, 25, was a girl born with a silver spoon but blessed with a golden heart. Although she was two years older than me during our first year at Delhi University, we connected easily and formed a strong bond.
