Yusuf's pov:
II was pacing outside Layla's ward, my heart racing with anxiety. Earlier in the morning, I walked into the kitchen to find Layla standing motionless, staring at her phone. Before I could even ask her anything, she turned towards me, her eyes filled with tears. Before I could speak, she collapsed right in front of me, and my world came crashing down. It felt like the ground beneath me vanished.
I rushed to Layla's side, attempting to lift her, but she didn't respond. She had lost consciousness. It was a surreal moment, as if my entire world was thrown into disarray. Layla, in a state of unconsciousness, yet her health seemed stable. I found myself in the hospital, watching the doctors attend to her, and I was outside the room, feeling an overwhelming sense of tension and helplessness.
As the doctors conducted their examination, I could hardly contain the turmoil within me. Every second felt like an eternity. Layla lay inside, and I, on the outside, felt my heart clenching with worry and fear. Her well-being meant everything to me, and seeing her in such a state stirred up emotions I struggled to articulate.
My thoughts raced, trying to comprehend what had caused Layla to faint so suddenly. It was as if time had paused, leaving me stuck in a distressing limbo. I wanted to be by her side, to assure her that everything would be alright, but I could only watch from a distance, feeling utterly powerless.
The fear of the unknown, coupled with the sight of Layla unconscious, tugged at the deepest strings of my heart. I desperately wanted to reach out, to hold her hand, to tell her that I was there, but circumstances kept me at bay. All I could do was wait and hope for positive news from the doctors.
My mind was a whirlwind of emotions, each one heightening the tension, leaving me on the edge. Layla's well-being was my sole focus, and the sense of helplessness gnawed at me, making the wait outside her ward agonizing and excruciating. All I wanted was to see her regain consciousness and assure her that I was right there by her side.
I was lost in my thoughts when suddenly, the doctor emerged from Layla's room. He glanced at me and inquired, "Are you Layla's husband?" I nodded and responded, "Yes, I am." The doctor proceeded to share reassuring news, "Your wife is perfectly fine now. Her fainting was due to a panic attack. Have you had any conversations or discussions that might have triggered it, or has she witnessed anything unusual lately?"
I felt a surge of concern and assured the doctor, "No, nothing of that sort happened. We were having a completely normal conversation." The doctor then advised me, "Alright, she's completely stable now and has regained consciousness. But, going forward, take care of her mental well-being. If this happens again, it won't just affect her, it could impact her pregnancy too. Go and meet her; we'll discharge her shortly."
With the doctor's instructions echoing in my mind, I entered Layla's room.
I entered Layla's room and saw her sitting on the bed, her face notably pale, and her eyes still teary. Without saying a word, I approached her and pulled her into a hug. When Layla fainted in front of me, the sense of fear that engulfed me was something I had never experienced before. The fear of losing Layla struck me deeply at that moment. I hugged her tightly, but Layla didn't respond by hugging back. It was the first time she didn't reciprocate a hug. I broke the hug and cupped Layla's face, planting a gentle kiss on her forehead. "How are you feeling now, my love?" I asked softly.
Layla responded in a faint voice, "I'm feeling a bit better." Sensing her subdued tone, I held her closer to my chest, running my fingers through her hair, and inquired, "What happened that made you faint?"
"I don't know, I just felt dizzy, and then I fell," Layla murmured softly. I held her hand, attempting to convey my concern. "You have no idea how scared I was, Layla," I confessed, trying to express the depth of my fear.
