The Tardis materialised, they were in Powell Estate. Rose, Maddie and the Doctor got out. “How long have I been gone?”

“About twelve hours.” The Doctor replied.

Rose looked at him. “Oh. Right, I won’t be long. I just want to see my mum.”

“And I’m going to see my parents.” Maddie added.

“What’re you going to tell her?” The Doctor asked to them. “And you parents?”

“I don’t know. I’ve been to the year 5 billion and only been gone, what, twelve hours? No, I’ll just tell her I spent the night at Shareen’s. See you later. Oh, don’t you disappear.” Rose runs up the stairs to the flat.

“Right.” Maddie comment. “My parents would understand.” She looked at him. “Really they would.” Then she rushed of as well.

------------------

Maddie arrived home. “Mom, Dad. I’m home!” She called.

Sirena rushed forwards her daughter. “Where were you?”

“What do you mean?” Maddie asked confused.

Sirena looked at her. “You were gone for a whole year.”

“Oh, Doctor.” She muttered. Then she spoke louder. “The Doctor got the flied wrong.”

Sirena had her eyes widen. “The Doctor? The man that you told me about.” She shouted at the end. “Over a bloody text!”

Maddie looked sheepishly. “Yeah, sorry mom. I should have called you.”

Sirena hugged her. “I’m just glad you are okay.”

“Mom, where is dad?” Maddie asked to her.

“He’s at work.” Sirena replied.

Before Maddie could say anything else, she got a call. “Yes?”

“The Doctor speaking. Uh, you aren’t 12 hours late but 12 months.” The Doctor replied to her.

Maddie face palmed. “Oh, really I had no idea. My mother just told me!” She shouted. “Learn to drive better!”

“Hèhè, oops.” The Doctor told her sheepishly.

“Okay, I speak with you later.” Maddie hang up the phone. Then she looked at her mother. “Can you believe him?”

“He made a mistake, it happens to the best of us.” Sirena replied.

Maddie looked at her. “Like you went away and had adventures on your own and was late to your own wedding because of it?”

Sirena looked sheepishly. “Yes.”

“Mom!” Maddie exclaimed.

------------------------

Later, Sirena and Maddie in front of the tv.

“Big Ben destroyed as a UFO crash lands in Central London. Police reinforcements are drafted in from across the country to control widespread panic, looting and civil disturbance. A state of national emergency has been declared. Tom Hitchinson is at the scene.”

“The police are urging the public not to panic. There’s a help line number on screen right now if you’re worried about friends or family.”

“The military are on the lookout for more spaceships. Until then, all flights in North American air space have been grounded.”

“The army are sending divers into the wreck of the spaceship. No one knows what they’re going to find.”

“The President will address the nation live from the White House, but the Secretary General has asked that people watch the skies.”

“His current whereabouts. News is just coming in. We can go to Tom at the Embankment.”

“They’ve found a body. It’s unconfirmed, but I’m being told a body has been found in the wreckage. A body of non-terrestrial origins. It’s being brought ashore.”

“A body of some sort has been found inside the wreckage of the spacecraft.”

“Brought to the nearest shore. Unconfirmed reports say that the body is of extra-terrestrial origin. An extraordinary event unfolding here live here in Central London. The body is being transferred to a secure unit mortuary, the whereabouts is yet unknown. The roads in Central London are being Albion Hospital. We still don’t know whether it’s alive or dead. Whitehall is denying everything.”

Sirena put the tv out. “Okay.” She stood up. “Come, we need to get to the hospital.”

Maddie frowned. “How? Everything is closed off.”

“We take the Tardis, my Tardis.” Sirena replied.

Maddie stood up as well. “Okay, mom.”

---------------

They were in the Albion Hospital. They parked in a store room. Sirena and Maddie stepped out. “Oh, missed this!” Sirena called.

“Then why don’t you do trips with dad?” Maddie asked confused.

“He is getting older.” Sirena replied.

Maddie frowned. “Yeah, i know. That’s what aging means.”

“Yeah.” Sirena nodded, then she saw the other Tardis. “Oh look another Tardis.”

“That’s the Doctor’s.” Maddie comment.

“Well, then. Lets find him.” Sirena told her.

“Cool.” Maddie smiled.

------------------

They were wandering about, until they heard something and went to it, they stormed into a room and saw the Doctor staring at soldiers. They stared at each other in silence for a moment, then the soldiers grabbed their weapons and point them at the Doctor, Sirena and Maddie. Something bursts out of the cooler and Toshiko screams. Everyone heard it. “Hi, Doc.” Maddie greeted.

“Maddie!” Sirena scolded her. “Not now!”

The Doctor looked confused at them as then he looked at the soldiers “Defence plan delta! Come on. Move! Move!” He lead the Marines and the mother-daughter duo out of the room at the double.

------------------

They went down to the Mortuary. Toshiko was cowering by her desk. She had a cut on her head. “It’s alive!”

“Spread out. Tell the perimeter it’s a lockdown.” The Doctor ordered to the Soldiers.

“My god. It’s still alive.” Toshiko cried out.

“Do it!” He ordered. Then the Soldiers walked out of the room.

Toshiko looked at them. “I swear it was dead.”

Sirena crouched down. “Happens to the best of us.”

“Coma, shock, hibernation, anything. What does it look like?” The Doctor asked to Toshiko. Then they heard metal clattering. “It’s still here.” Then he gestured to a soldier outside the door to come in and crouched by Toshiko. Behind a filing cabinet was a pig. “Hello.”

Sirena looked at it. “Hello.”

“Mom, that’s a pig.” Maddie comment.

“I know.” Sirena nodded.

Just then the pig runs out on its hind legs. It was wearing a spacesuit. “Don’t shoot!” The Doctor shouted. They rushed in the Corridor. Another soldier shot the pig. “What did you do that for? It was scared! It was scared.”

They walked back to the Mortuary. “I just assumed that’s what aliens look like, but you’re saying it’s an ordinary pig from Earth.”

“They don’t look like that.” Maddie comment.

“Maddie, not know.” Sirena scolded her daughter.

The Doctor looked at Toshiko. “More like a mermaid. Victorian showmen used to draw the crowds by taking the skull of a cat, gluing it to a fish and calling it a mermaid. Now someone’s taken a pig, opened up it’s brain, stuck bits on, then they’ve strapped it in that ship and made it dive bomb. It must’ve been terrified. They’ve taken this animal and turned it into a joke.”

“So it’s a fake, a pretend, like the mermaid. But the technology augmenting its brain, it’s like nothing on Earth. It’s alien. Aliens are faking aliens. But why would they do that? Doctor?” Toshiko asked as he and the others were gone.

-----------

Later they walked into the store room. The Doctor looked at Sirena and Maddie. “I think you have some explaining to do?”

“Not here.” Sirena replied. “We need to go, now!”

The Doctor nodded and they went into their own Tardises and they dematerialised.

---------------------

The Doctor locked his Tardis to Sirena’s and they landed in the backyard and they walked out. The Doctor looked at the mother-daughter duo. “Can someone explain what is going on?”

Sirena looked at the Doctor. “I’m the Bird. But I go on earth by Sirena Brown, the wife of Liam Brown. I’m a Time Lady. I’m like you Doctor. You aren’t alone.” She revealed.

The Doctor looked in shock. “But how is it possible? I can’t feel you in my head.”

Sirena held up her bracelet. “Perception filter. Maddie has one as well.”

“Why would you do that?” The Doctor asked them.

“To protect ourselves.” Maddie replied.

The Doctor looked confused. “From what?”

“My enemies.” Sirena replied. “I have made them on my travels, when I was helping people and other aliens. And I have human as my soulmate. So I think you would understand.”

The Doctor nodded. “I know the statement of soulmates. But I never had one.”

Sirena looked sad. “Its sad.”

“It is.” The Doctor told her. “But its forbidden to have a human as a soulmate?” He asked confused.

“Yes.” Sirena nodded. “But my family understood it, they were the only ones.”

“You family never said anything?” The Doctor asked.

“No, never. They protected us, until the end.” Sirena replied.

The Doctor looked sad. “I’m sorry.”

“Its not your fault, the Time War had ended. Maybe there’s more of us hiding in plain side.” Sirena told him.

The Doctor looked in shock. “You think so?”

“Yes.” Sirena replied. “Look at what i did.”

“You have a point.” The Doctor shrugged. Then he changed the subject. “Is Maddie more like you or more like your husband? If you don’t mind me asking.”

“Maddie has two hearts, so yes she is more like me.” Sirena replied.

“My mother is right and she has been teaching me about what’s out there and how the fly the Tardis.” Maddie added.

“Why did you work in a shop then?” The Doctor asked confused.

“To make my own money.” Maddie replied smiling.

“Ah, fantastic.” The Doctor comment, happily. Then he reminded something. “I should get back go Rose.”

“I’m coming with you.” Maddie comment. “She my friend or something like that.”

Sirena looked at het daughter. “Be careful.”

“I will protect her.” The Doctor told her seriously.

“I know you will.” Sirena nodded.

“Come on.” Maddie comment, already walking to the blue box. The Doctor followed her, smiling. They stepped inside it and they dematerialised.

------------------

Maddie helped the Doctor with the Tardis, then it materialised. They materialised around Rose and the others. “All right, so I lied. I went and had a look. But the whole crash landing’s a fake. I thought so. Just too perfect. I mean, hitting Big Ben. Come on, so I thought let’s go and have a look and...”

“My mum’s here.” Rose interrupted him.

“Oh, that’s just what I need. Don’t you dare make this place domestic.” The Doctor complained.

Maddie rolled with her eyes. “With my mother, you didn’t care.”

“Maddie?!” Rose exclaimed.

“Yep.” Maddie comment.

Then the Doctor spoke up. “Oh that’s different.” He waved it off.

“Yeah, right.” Maddie rolled with her eyes. “Only because we told you that.”

The Doctor smiled. “Yep, the best news I have had in a long while.”

“What news?” Rose asked confused.

Just then Mickey spoke up to the Doctor. “You ruined my life, Doctor. They thought she was dead. I was a murder suspect because of you.”

The Doctor pointed at him. “You see what I mean? Domestic.”

“Oh, pipe down.” Maddie comment.

Mickey looked at him. “I bet you don’t even remember my name.”

“Ricky.”

“It’s Mickey.”

“No, it’s Ricky.”

“I think I know my own name.”

“You think you know your own name? How stupid are you?”

Just then Jackie rushed put as Rose called after her. “Mum, don’t! Don’t go anywhere. Don’t start a fight!” then she went put as well.

-------------

Rose walked into the Tardis. “That was a real spaceship.”

“Yep.” The Doctor comment.

Rose looked at the Doctor. “So it’s all a pack of lies? What is it, then? Are they invading?”

“Funny way to invade, putting the world on red alert.” Mickey replied instead.

The Doctor pointed at him. “Good point! So, what’re they up to?” He looked at the monitor and was busy looking for something.

Maddie walked over. “Something.”

“That was helpful, thank you.” The Doctor comment sarcastically.

Maddie rolled with her eyes. “Your welcome.”

“So, what’re you doing down there?” Mickey asked.

“Ricky.”

“Mickey.”

The Doctor looked at him. “Ricky. If I was to tell you what I was doing to the controls of my frankly magnificent time ship, would you even begin to understand?”

“I suppose not.” Mickey replied.

“Well, shut it, then.” He told him rudely.

“Mister rude.” Maddie comment.

Mickey looked at Rose. “Some friend you’ve got.”

Rose shrugged. “He’s winding you up. I am sorry.”

“Okay.”

“I am, though.”

“Every day, I looked. On every street corner, wherever I went, looking for a blue box for a whole year.”

“It’s only been a few days for me. I don’t know. It’s, it’s hard to tell inside this thing but I swear it’s just a few days since I left you.”

“Not enough time to miss me, then?”

“I did miss you.”

“I missed you.”

“So, er, in twelve months, have you been seeing anyone else?”

“No.”

“Okay.”

“Mainly because everyone thinks I murdered you.”

“Right.”

“So, now that you’ve come back, are you going to stay?”

“Got it! Ha, ha!” The Doctor shouted as he had something.

Maddie glared at him. “My eardrums.”

“Oops, sorry.” The Doctor looked at her as then he at the monitor. “Patched in the radar, looped it back twelve hours so we can follow the flight of that spaceship. Here we go. Hold on. Come on.” The Doctor looked at the trajectory on the monitor. The others had walked to him as well. “That’s the spaceship on its way to Earth, see? Except. Hold on. See? The spaceship did a sling shot round the Earth before it landed.”

“What does that mean?” Rose asked confused.

“It means it came from Earth in the first place.” The Doctor replied. “It went up and came back down. Whoever those aliens are, they haven’t just arrived, they’ve been here for a while. The question is, what have they been doing?”

“Maybe they are planning something.” Maddie replied to him. But the Doctor was lost on thought.

---------------

Mickey and Rose were channel-hopping on the scanner. “How many channels do you get?” Mickey asked.

“All the basic packages.” The Doctor replied.

“Cool, my mother has more. A little bit.” Maddie comment.

The Doctor raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

“Yes.” Maddie replied.

Mickey looked at the Doctor. “You get sports channels?”

“Yes, I get the football.” The Doctor replied to him. Then he stopped him. “Hold on, I know that lot.”

“It is looking likely that the Government’s bringing in alien specialists... those people who have devoted their lives to studying outer space.”

“UNIT. United Nations Intelligence Taskforce. Good people.” The Doctor told them.

Maddie looked at him. “My mother knows them as well.”

Rose looked at the Doctor. “How do you know them?”

“‘Cos he’s worked for them. Oh yeah, don’t think I sat on my backside for twelve months, Doctor. I read up on you. You look deep enough on the Internet or in the history books, and there’s his name, followed by a list of the dead.” Mickey replied instead.

Maddie looked at him. “That is not his fault.” She defended the Doctor.

“That’s nice. Good boy, Ricky.” The Doctor told him sarcastically.

Rose looked at the Doctor. “If you know them, why don’t you go and help?”

“They wouldn’t recognise me. I’ve changed a lot since the old days. Besides, the world’s on a knife-edge. There’s aliens out there and fake aliens. We want to keep this alien out of the mix. I’m going undercover. And er, I’d better keep the Tardis out of sight.” The Doctor replied to her. Then he looked at Mickey. “Ricky, you’ve got a car. You can do some driving.”

“Where to?” Mickey asked.

“The roads are clearing. Let’s go and have a look at that spaceship.” The Doctor replied.

------------------------

They walked out of the Tardis and straight into a helicopter spotlight. “Do not move! Step away from the box and raise your hands above your heads.”

Police cars and Saxon armoured personnel carriers surround them. Mickey runs. Jackie came out of the block of flats. “Rose!” Soldiers grabbed Jackie. “Rose!” Mickey hide behind some dustbins and the soldiers run straight past.

“Raise your hands above your head. You are under arrest.” The police told them.

“Take me to your leader.” The Doctor told them.

-------------

They were taken to the police car as Rose spoke up. “This is a bit posh. If I knew it was going to be like this, being arrested, I would have done it years ago.”

“I don’t.” Maddie comment.

“We’re not being arrested, we’re being escorted.” The Doctor told to them.

“Where to?” Rose asked.

The Doctor looked at them. “Where’d you think? Downing Street.”

“Yeah, right.” Maddie didn’t believe it.

“You’re kidding.” Rose added.

The Doctor looked serious. “I’m not.”

“10 Downing Street?” Rose exclaimed.

The Doctor nodded. “That’s the one."

Rose had her eyes widen. “Oh, my God. I’m going to 10 Downing Street? How come?”

“I hate to say it, but Mickey was right. Over the years I’ve visited this planet a lot of times, and I’ve been, er, noticed.” The Doctor replied.

“Of course you have.” Maddie comment.

“Now they need you?” Rose asked to the Doctor.

The Doctor looked at them. “Like it said on the news. They’re gathering experts in alien knowledge. And who’s the biggest expert of the lot?”

“You?” “Patrick Moore?” The girls asked on the same time.

The Doctor sighed. “Apart from him.”

Rose realized. “Oh, don’t you just love it.”

“I’m telling you.” The Doctor comment. “Lloyd George, he used to drink me under the table.” Then he asked them. “Who’s the Prime Minister now?”

Rose shrugged. “How should I know? I missed a year.”

“Me too.” Maddie added.

-----------

They arrived at Downing Street. The Doctor mugged for the cameras outside Number Ten. “Oh, my God.” Rose exclaimed.

“What the hell?” Maddie exclaimed as well.

------------

They were escorted into the Waiting room. Harriet came downstairs and showed her ID to an armed policeman. “Harriet Jones, MP Flydale North.” She mingled with the UNIT officers and large people in the room.

“Ladies and gentlemen, can we convene? Quick as we can, please. It’s this way on the right, and can I remind you ID cards are to be worn at all times.” Ganesh handed one to the Doctor. “Here’s your ID card. I’m sorry, your companion doesn’t have clearance.”

The Doctor looked at his companions. “I don’t go anywhere without them.”

“You’re the code nine, not her. I’m sorry, Doctor. It is the Doctor, isn’t it? They’ll have to stay outside.” Ganesh told him.

The Doctor looked at him. “They are staying with me.”

Ganesh sighed. “Look, even I don’t have clearance to go in there. I can’t let them in and that’s a fact.”

“It’s all right. You go.” Maddie told to the Doctor.

Just then Harriet walked up to them. “Excuse me. Are you the Doctor?”

The Doctor nodded. “Sure.”

Ganesh was irritated. “Not now. We’re busy. Can’t you go home?”

“I just need a word in private.” Harriet replied.

“I suppose so. Don’t get in any trouble.” The Doctor leaves.

Ganesh looked at Harriet. “You haven’t got clearance. Now leave it.” Then he looked at Rose and Maddie. “I’m going to have to leave you with security.”

Harriet looked at Ganesh. “It’s all right. I’ll look after them. Let me be of some use.” Then she looked at Rose and Maddie. “Walk with me. Just keep walking.”

-------------------

They had walked close to the cabinet room. Harriet showed them her name. “That’s right. Don’t look round. Harriet Jones, MP Flydale North. This friend of yours, he’s an expert, is that right? He knows about aliens?”

Rose frowned. “Why do you want to know?”

Harriet started crying as they went inside of the cabinet room. “They turned the body into a suit. A disguise for the thing inside!”

“I believe you.” Maddie comment.

“It’s all right. I believe you. It’s, it’s alien. They must have some serious technology behind this. If we could find it, we could use it.” Rose started searching the room. She opened a different cupboard and a man’s body fell out. “Oh, my God! Is that the...”

Ganesh interrupted her as he walked in. “Harriet, for God’s sake. This has gone beyond a joke. You cannot just wander. Oh, my God. That’s the Prime Minister!”

Just then they heard something and went to hide. Then someone walked in. “Oh! Has someone been naughty?”

Ganesh looked in disbelief. “That’s impossible. He left this afternoon. The Prime Minister left Downing Street. He was driven away!”

“And who told you that, hmm? Me.” Margaret reached up to her hairline.
