"Alongside them, was a petite female Vidyadhara. She often sat in the moonlight, just beyond the Ambrosial Arbor, under the fragrant, blooming cherry tree. Her long, slender fingers plucking the strings of her guqin." The white-haired man before her stopped, his finger fiddling with a chess piece. "Her music tells tales of the High Cloud Quintet, from the defeat of borisin at Thalassa to destroying the alliance between the Houyhnhnms and the wingweavers in the Abundance Axis."
He gazed into her violet eyes, which stared back into his golden orbs."It seems as though harmony would last forever." He dropped the chess piece onto the board. "...however, such paradise does not exist."
She watched as the chess piece landed on the board with a light thump. It rolled around the chess board for a few seconds, before landing flat on its side. She then raised her gaze to him once more, waiting.
"...The guqin then stopped playing its music, vowing to never tell a tale of those who once lived in the high clouds."
"And then....?"
A flash went through his eyes. Something she couldn't make out. "I don't know, she disappeared." He shook his head, the corner of his mouth twitched up into a slight smile, a smile full of wistfulness.
The smile she knew all too well. A smile she would display on her face when looking at Dan Heng.
And now at Blade.
There was always this unfamiliar feeling hollowing out her heart every time she looked at those two. But now, the white-haired man in front of her is the one giving her that smile, feeling the same way she did.
She wanted to reach out and hug him, to comfort him. But can she truly comfort him?
His smile hid his feelings away, deep down within him. But you know what they said. Eyes never lie. Behind those golden orbs, she can see the pain and regrets reflected from the departs of his dear companions and friends.
Noticing the look on her face, Jing Yuan stood up, offering a hand to help her up. "Don't worry about me." He said as she took his hand. "As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."
"I won't be truly happy unless I regain my past memories." She said softly.
"But will you truly be happy after regaining your lost memories?"
She faltered. Her mouth open to speak but no words came out. In the end, she can only stay silent. His question caught her off guard. What did he mean by that?
He chucked slightly. "Don't worry about it. Do what you want. If you need help, you can come to me."
. . .
Trapped. That's the situation she's in right now.
"Blade..."
"Where had you been all day?" He grumbled into her neck.
"Let me go, please. And what do you mean 'all day'? I have only been gone for six hours." She struggled against his firm grip around her waist.
"From noon to now, that's all day," Blade said flatly. "Where did you go?"
"Ah..." she trailed off nervously, her eyes darting around the living room. "Does it matter?"
He scowled. "Of course it does. Where did you go?" He kept his arms around her waist firmly, trapping her in his embrace until she told him.
"Well... I was visiting General Jing Yuan to see how he was doing after the battle against Phantylia. And tried to see if I can get some of my past memories from him.l
Blade's eyebrows furrowed. "You could have asked me, you know."
He was right here the whole time and she didn't bother to ask him? In fact, she didn't even have to seek out Jing Yuan! He would answer every question that came out of her mouth and would continue to do so until she was satisfied! So why on the Xianzhou Loufu did she even have to spend the whole day with Jing Yuan for answers that he could have given her?
He felt his irritation bubbling up inside him. He forced the feeling down by tightening his grip around her.
She let out a sigh. "Too tight..." She tried to struggle free from his grasp, only for him to tighten his grip once more. He refused to let her go.
"You're not getting out of here," he paused for a moment before continuing, "what's the magic word?"
"Let me go, please?" She tried. He didn't budge. "Pretty please? With a cherry on top?"
He rested his head on her shoulder nonchalantly, staring up at her with those piercing red eyes. In fact, even with the "magic word," he doesn't plan to let her go.
She frowned, pouting slightly. So she did the only thing she could think of at the moment. She turned around and cupped his face with her hands before giving him a small kiss on the corner of his lips. "Can you let me go now?"
His eyes widened slightly before they returned to their original shape. "No."
"But-!" She opened her mouth to protest. He cut her off, twirling her around before letting her go, snickering.
