Funmi continued this struggle until she finished her primary school education,after she completed her primary school, she sat for the entrance examination and she passed excellently, but after their primary school education she realized that her elder siblings didn't further their education, but what she didn't know was that after their primary school education,she usually call them and tell them that she couldn't sponsor their education as she doesn't have the capability to do so.
So when she was called by her mother and then she broke the news to her, Funmi was heartbroken, as her dream was to become a teacher. Despite all these odds, Funmi didn't let her dream to waver, she will run all kind of errands just to survive, on holidays she will do all sort of menial jobs just to gather money in order to get school supplies and uniform.
This struggle continues, depsite being mocked by her siblings and sometimes scolded by her, she didn't let all these get to her, she continued to excel among her peers. But she sometimes faced a lot in her life due to her petite stature, but she stood her ground and continue to be the best among her peers.
Due to the financial constraints, as her Mum could not take care of them all as she doesn't have a good job, she sells fruit at the market and also roast plantain just to take care of Funmi an her siblings. But when it got to a certain stage, as Funmi was the fifth of 7th children, her mother had to send her to her elder sister's place to live in order to lao further her education, as her elder sister has gotten married as at that time.
Funmi had to leave her mother's place to get elder sister's place in order to further her education, she started her high school education where she continue to struggle, as her sister didn't also have a good job too, she is a fashion designer who doesn't really earn much too and her husband is in the same level with her.
She has always dreamt of being a teacher, as she loves kids a lot, so that passion made her go to art class, Funmi graduated her high school with flying colours.
