april storms

Where there's flooding rain
There should be flooding memories
But there's quite the contrary
I look out my window
For miles, nothing I can see
The foggy lighting feels complete
Dull, but in the best way
I don't feel like a fool today
Instead, I feel full
The rain drops hitting the ground
Is to me, the simplest sound
The skies white and depleted
Yet the intention of the storm isn't conceded
The skies feel more completed
I'm not reflecting within
Just reflecting outward
Is that lightning I heard?
All the better
I hope it lasts forever
The humid air
The day the sky gave up on trying to care
Embracing the wild yet surreal side
Giving up on the urge to decide
Letting loose
Giving up on the urge to amuse
Rain doesn't always come with rainbows
But not every grey sky looks the exact same
The withered branches are just happy spring has came
Their sleep the rain has slain
And there's some bright blue on the other side
But I'd like to never leave this slippery slide
The sky can't ignore the sun's roar
Eventually, the silence will come
But for now, let the April storm have some fun

The clouds may darken
The winds may grow to be heavy
But that just makes me all the more ready
Ready to say never
Ready to let go of forever
Let go of staying together
I'll close my eyes, and the rain hitting the ground will be all I hear
The washed-out clouds will consume my fear
And it'll be great
Even though I'll be too late
No more mind games
No more psychological pains
I'll drown it all day
Interpret the rain in my own way
Which is as a sign
A sign that relaxation is mine
But also fun
It would've lasted forever if it weren't for the sun

I'm allergic to the sun
To my vision, it's like the bullet of a gun
I'd rather not have to drop everything and run
Forever, I think I'll stay
In this seamless blockade
I'm not ignoring it
I'm merely distorting it
Under the influence of the storm
Inner turmoil will be something to mourn
Long dead, a long time destroyed
My conscience's schemes have hopefully been ployed
Temporarily put to bay, you could say subdued
The lightning has struck the seemingly glued
I can't even place the lightning bashes
I can only sorta tell when the sky flashes
Black to white
Dark to light
The thunder helps me sleep at night

Sure, the sky is dim
But at least it's one of the few things even I can find good in
Grey isn't just grey
Inbetween are the complex shades
Figures of good that nature has made
A wondering traveler will appreciate the tree's towering shade
And the dripping drops
Those two eyes don't see too many crops
Few drops of hope every day, only when nature wants the desert to be enchanted
Don't take the april storms for granted
Only water helps expand the seeds that nature's planted

Sure, when I was 10, lightning struck my house
But that was October
Moreover, the thunder was striking what was already over
The final straw, the finishing saw
But since then, I've learned to reconcile
Storms haven't been striking my house for quite awhile
Sure, the lips on my mouth can't completely form a smile
But it's not as if the odds are in a burning pile
I just....haven't seen them in awhile
I haven't seen them in awhile
I haven't seen that smile
I haven't seen a smile

But at least the storm can halfway help me
It's halfway there if you look deep within me
Deep within, past the sin
The storm makes things clearer
Personality traits that I thought had been merer
But I think the storm knows that they're here
April knows my story isn't clear
Past the canvas's surface, there's inevitably fear
The sky will inevitably hit the storm with its spear
The storm tells me it has to go, at least for now
But I don't know how to make another friend
I know it's not the end
I'll see it in a little while
But for the time being, I suppose I have no smile
