Chapter 6 : Dark Elf

On a clear day outside the heart of Ygdrassil. The sky was blue with no clouds blocking its shyness. Birds chirping were heard. There were three white rabbits with red eyes, eating grass.

"Wind Accel!", someone shouted.

Suddenly, a wind struck fastly in green colour. It carried a wooden arrow on its back. Its edge was sharp, its back was white feather. The arrow was rotating in its core like it was dancing. There was voice of wind friction. The arrow hit precisely on a rabbit's neck.

The other two rabbits were looking at the hit rabbit. Then there was a kid jumping from his hide in bushes. It was Kido. He hid in the shadow of bushes, hidden by his black cloth before. He unsheathed his dagger while jumping and was zooming his sight into one of the rabbit.

"Target is locked", Kido said. He threw his dagger with full power. It hit the rabbit's body. Blood seeped into its white skin.

The other rabbit was quickly running. Its legs were muscled so it could run as fast as bird flying. Kido saw it with his cold eyes. He pulled out the dagger hit the other rabbit and chased it. There were many obstacles in the forest, but Kido could easily avoid them using his Gift. Then a strong wind appeared to slow the rabbit. But the wind was not strong enough to slow Kido so he could follow the rabbit. It was cast by Leila's Gift. When Kido approached near the rabbit. He jumped again and stabbed the running rabbit.

"Phew, looks like we've got jackpot this morning", Leila said while carrying Jeanne. They gathered the rabbits and skinned them. They took the meat, roasted it, and ate it as their brunch. Their skin and eyes was taken by Leila. She said it could be used to cure eye illness so it could be sold to the medicine dispenser.

"We will get out from Ygdrassil in the next day," Leila said.

The next day had come...

"Finally, here we have got out from Ygdrassil", Leila said. They have arrived at the border between Ivra and Diafroz.

"Huuuff", the two kids exhaled, they were relieved that they had succeeded in leaving the Ygdrassil. There wasn't forest scenery again. They could see expanse of land with brick roads on it.

"We are at the northwest of the continent. Though I said it is a border, it is still in the territory of Diafroz. If you want to enter Ivra, you must go to the west. You will meet a watch post of Diafroz in two days. If you have passed the watch post, then you have entered Ivra. You will reach the nearby city in 3 days," Leila explained the route.

"You will guide us until we arrive there, won't you?" Kido asked her.

"Unfortunately, my destination is the opposite of yours. I need to sell my hunt to get my money. So we will go separate way from here"

"It's a shame we have to part ways here. I enjoyed our journey with you. I will miss you, Leila," Jeanne became emotional.

"Don't worry cute girl, you will be safe with him. Every meeting will end in separation. But, we can make a camp together here for the last time before we part away tomorrow", Leila calmed her down. The sun seemed tired, the night would replace him. So, they made a camp for the last time.

"Leila, I think you have a different aura with the other Elves I have met. Although, I'm not sure what is the difference", Jeanne began a conversation while they were warming their body in front of the campfire.

"You're such a curious girl...
The elves you've seen must be the Exovians stiff elves. I don't live in Exovia. I'm not pure elves like them. I'm Dark Elf,"

"Dark Elf?", Jeanne asked.

"A bad elf, right?", Kido interrupted.

"Hahaha, dark don't always mean bad, kid. We are the rebels of Exovian elves although I dunno a lot about it. Our people were expelled from Exovia. We are no longer holding the honour of pure elves. That's why I can talk freely with you. That must be the difference you felt before, curious girl", Leila explained a little about Dark Elf.

"Ahhh, you're right. The elves I have me spoke in stilted language. So, where do you live now, Leila?"

"I live at the one and only city of Diafroz.
Diafroz is a country where you can meet many races like humans, elves, dark elves, and dwarfs. It is a country of diversity. But, this country has been controlled by corrupt people, so it become a poor country. It is a dangerous place for you, kids. You can be kidnapped by strangers and be sold as goods. So, be cautious, kids," Leila warned them. Jeanne gulped, she was worried.

"Jeanne, you must not wear that gown while going to the watch post. They can suspect you. You better wear my coat," Leila asked her to change her cloth.

"Ohh, I nearly forgot. Thank you, Leila," she changed her cloth to brown coat. It hid her hair and beautiful eyes. It made her look didn't seem like a princess.

"It has been late night. You must rest now to refill your stamina. You will continue your long journey tomorrow," Leila asked her to rest.

"She is right. We must take a rest now," Kido asked Jeanne to take a rest too.

The night passed in silence...

The morning had come. Jeanne woke up to Kido's voice.

"Fu**ing dark elf. So I was right, she is a bad person", Kido growled in the peaceful morning.

"What's wrong, Kido?" Jeanne asked her. Then Kido gave her a piece of paper. There was a writing on it. It seemed Leila's writing.

"Good morning kids. Thank you for trusting me so far. I take your jewellery, gown, and dagger as payment for guiding you here. Good luck on your journey. Make sure you eat well!
