Third Person POV

Soyeon looked at the books stacked neatly beside her on the library table. She let out a small sigh. The exams are 'round the corner again. She doesn't even know how did she survive her first year.

The exams at Berkeley Heights International University were a lot harder, being one of the best universities in the world and Soyeon had to do the very best to keep up. She knew that if she failed one subject, she would face the possibility of losing her scholarship. And she had to choose psychology where the lessons were complicated and diverse. But, the major offered chances to work in high-paying jobs. This was the only motivation that kept her going to get her BA degree.

The sky slowly started to get dark outside the library block and Soyeon's stomach started to growl. The girl packed up her pens and notebooks before taking the books she took from the shelves to return them on the cart for returned books.

She left the library block and headed towards the nearest cafeteria. She bought a bowl of Japanese Beef Don.

"Yeon~" Soyeon heard someone calling her from behind. She felt arms wrap around her. "You're gonna spill my food!" The girl protested. She turned to face one of her best friends Soojin.

"I don't believe it. You finally came down for food. Did you not bring your phone? I texted you so many times!" She gushed.

"And there I was thinking you were introverted." Soyeon muttered under her breath as Soojin led her to her group of friends.

"There you are." Minnie looked up from her phone screen. "We were thinking that you've ditched us for your revision."

"Nicha!" Miyeon slapped Minnie hard on her shoulder.

"Nicha!" Shuhua mimicked, laughing loudly, causing Miyeon to blush lightly. "Ya! Stop it!"

Minnie was one year older than Soyeon and counted as one of the rich students in Berkeley Heights and she quickly became a famous figure in the student body, especially after showing up on the first day of her freshman year driving an Ashton Martin Valkyrie. And there's always the people who want to be friends with a rich person. So Minnie had a lot of friends. Soyeon still doesn't know why Minnie decided that Soyeon could be one of her close friends, given the fact that Minnie was rich, smart, beautiful and popular while she was just... her.

Miyeon was known as the prettiest girl in school. She has so many boys asking her out but she never goes. The reason? It's Minnie. Miyeon is a closeted lesbian but Soojin, Shuhua and Soyeon can see that she likes Minnie.

Soojin is Soyeon's childhood best friend. They lost contact for a few years during most of middle school and all of high school after Soojin's parents decided to move to another part of Korea. They eventually realised that they were in the same university somewhere in the middle of their freshman year. The two girls still have a strong bond and Soojin persuaded Soyeon to join the friend group so as to 'socialize'.

Shuhua. The genius Boss Baby. She was born before the Lunar Chinese New Year and because of some traditional Chinese beliefs, she was in a class of 6 and 7 year olds when she was 5 in Primary School. So naturally, she started school 1 year earlier than her peers and entered university 1 year earlier.

Soyeon... Well she's just a normal kid from Gangnam-gu and lived a normal life. Hoping for a better future, she tried out for the entrance exams for famous universities around the world and got accepted by Berkeley Heights. She is just an anti-social introvert that prefers spending her time studying. She's just a psychology major.

Soyeon quickly finished her rice and stood up from the table. "I'm going back to my dorm. Bye." She says to the rest as she picks up the bowl and utensils to return them to the tray return. She left the cafeteria early so as to avoid the loud, rowdy crowds shouting, laughing and talking in the cafeteria. It always felt so noisy to her.

She walked past a convenience store on her way back to the dorm. That's weird. Soyeon thought. She never walked by a convenience store on her way back to her dorm. But she walked in anyway. She needed some energy drinks and coffee in case she gets sleepy tomorrow and some bread for breakfast the next morning.

She exited the convenience store and looked around and saw that she was in the part of the school campus that she had never been to. She reached out for her phone to check how to get back to her dorm on the campus map app. (Yes the campus grounds are huge)

The Next Day - Noon

Soyeon was down at the cafeteria nearest to the block where she was having her lessons in the morning. "Come here right now!" Minnie drags her over to the nearest table and sets her down.

"Have you heard?" She asks in a shushed voice.

"What?" Soyeon asks, not interested in the topic at all.

"There's a new girl that came driving a fucking Bugatti. And that's like so much more expensive than my cars. My Valkyrie costs around 3 million but Bugatti's cars cost at least 3 million. Oh, and the owner of the car. She looks so hot. There were so many guys that asked for her number but she rejected them all. You should have seen how she looked at them! Everyone is talking about her. I heard she was from some other university and her parents bought her way into BH." Minnie started gossiping. Soyeon wasn't interested in the topic at all but tried to keep a smiley face for her friend.

"Okay. And?" Soyeon asks, feeling like Minnie had more to talk about.

"But... from what I know, she is super smart and skipped a year in high school and is in the same year, same major as you. She's gonna start her lessons officially from next Monday. Which is in 3 days." She continues, looking at Soyeon as if she wanted to ask for a favour.

"So...?" Soyeon asks, knowing that Minnie probably wants her to talk to the new girl.

"Can you help me get her number? Please?" Minnie asked, putting out her 'pretty please' face. Soyeon nodded. "Guessed it." She mumbled under her breath.

"And I know I made you leave your queue so I asked Miyeon to buy for you from the ramen store." Minnie says, getting ready to leave. "Don't forget to get her number!" She reminds before dashing out of the cafeteria.

"Get whose number?" Miyeon asked as she carried a tray with two bowls on it and 2 sets of utensils.

"The new girl. Thanks for buying my lunch." Soyeon gave Miyeon a small smile.

"Not again..." Miyeon mumbled under her breath. She knew that Minnie was going to try and flirt with the new girl or at least be friends with her.

"Hey. It's gonna be fine. Minnie's not going to be that interested in her. From what she said, she probably just wanna be friends with her and maybe because she thinks she and the new girl would have some common language." Soyeon sensed her low feelings and tried to comfort the older girl. After all, the new girl can't be that popular or hot, right?
