Soyeon's POV
Friday involved me reading books about psychology to help some other patient. And also a call from Minnie.
Saturday involved my mom calling me at 3am because we were 14 hours apart.
Sunday involved a group lunch at a posh diner. I honestly don't understand why boss decided to bring the whole group of us there but I mean, it's his money that's being spent, not mine.
Monday involved another patient coming along for a session. It took him a long time to open up and that made the entire session tiring for me.
Tuesday morning saw one of the heaviest rains the entire year in New York. Thank god my shoes weren't as dirty as I expected after walking on the pavement. I spent most of the time trying to figure out the relation between Yuqi, Sam and this Mr. Daniel. That's also the reason why I asked for a private session at her house, without any disruption, so I can ask about what's going on and hopefully, help Yuqi.
Why am I helping her?
I thought of the same question for a few nights. My conclusion: I still like her, like a little bit, but that much anymore, and she's a friend.
So on Tuesday afternoon, 3:57pm, I stood outside a really tall bulding, waiting for the security guard to call Yuqi and seek her permission to let me up. 3:58pm, the button for the 39th floor was lit the moment I stepped into the elevator. It was the highest floor in the entire building. 3:59pm, I stand infront the only door in the entire level. I pressed on the doorbell. I could hear a little 'ding-dong' sound in the house. "Coming!" Someone shouted from inside. I couldn't help but let out a little chuckle, she's still loud as f*ck.
She opened door, peeking out from the crack. When she saw it was me, a big grin broke out across her face and she opened the door wider for me to enter.
I took off my shoes and left them at the doorstep as I walked into the house wearing my socks.
The entire house was decorated with absolute simplicity. Not too simply but not abstract, very neat. "Hello." I say as I waited for Yuqi to close the door.
"Welcome to my humble... abode, if that's what it's called." Yuqi says as she turns around and leads me to the living room.
"Hmph. Quite humble indeed." I say as I look at the minimalist drawing on the wall. It was a famous drawing that cost 1 million the last time I checked. And I saw a few trophies in a transparent shelf.
I sat down on the sofa as she handed me a glass of water.
"So?" She asks as she sat down on the single sofa beside the one I sat on.
"Just basic questions. Mostly about you and what's going on in your life right now." I shrugged as I took a sip of the water.
I could feel her eyes staring at me. "Are you telling me that you are just here to waste my time and money." She asks after letting my words sink in.
"Nope I'm not. First, I checked the bank account that sent me the money after our first consultation. It's not yours. Second, I'm helping you by analysing what that Mr. Daniel and Sam want to do. I feel like they are trying to control you. And don't get me wrong. We are friends, I help my friends solve their problems." I smile at her. "Do you have any snacks?"
I was sure that her brain was spinning at high speeds. She knows that it's better for me to help her. She can't ask some questions when it comes to communication with Sam and Mr. Daniel. "On a second thought, I don't lose anything if I accept your help. I have nothing to lose and all to gain. Oh, and, I have your favourite snack. Gimme a mo'." She says as she walks into the kitchen. I heard drawers being opened and closed before she walked back, with a choco pie in hand.
We talked, a lot. It was more like a catch-up session. We talked about almost everything. Turns out she came to America to be a singer. And she went to BHU to trick her parents. They won't agree so she decided to use the reason of preferring BHU and changed to a school halfway across the globe.
I told about me too. Mostly just me studying and getting a job, a promotion and stuff like that. I took out my little notebook and tried my best to understand the relationship between Yuqi, Sam and Mr. Daniel.
Based on my understanding, Mr. Daniel was the big boss of the company Yuqi's is signed to. But he doesn't want to give Yuqi that many songs or chances at big music shows and such. Sam was just a henchman of Mr. Daniel and was just doing what Mr. Daniel asks of him.
Brenda was Yuqi's manager and was really good to her. Brenda tries her best to help Yuqi get onto big stages, big shows and such. So basically, to me Mr. Daniel is the bad guy that's trying to sabotage Yuqi's career or something, I don't know if it is that terrible, Sam is his little 'dog' person that does whatever Mr. Daniel tells him to. Brenda is the person that is trying her best to help Yuqi. I support Brenda. Team Brenda! Whoo!
"You wanna stay for dinner?" Yuqi asks after we went through a round of suspicions on why Mr. Daniel was being mean to Yuqi.
I looked at my wristwatch. 7pm. We talked a lot. "Sure, I don't see why not." I replied, giving her a smile.
A/N: I feel like I'm writing a bit too little because this chapter and the last don't even reach 1000 words.
