Alex
Alex woke up earlier than his usual waking time. He didn't sleep much last night because Olivia was on his mind. There were so many things he wanted to know about the girl. But the biggest question was, why was she so guarded? It seemed like she didn't want to get too close to others. Who hurt her to make her this guarded?
"It's okay, one step at a time," Alex always tell himself when facing life's challenges. He also can't understand why he was becoming too invested in a girl he only met at a pub. But there was something in Olivia's eyes that made him see himself in her.
As Alex got ready for the day, he couldn't shake off the thoughts of Olivia. He meticulously chose his outfit, trying to make a good impression, yet his mind was still wandering. While adjusting his collar, he didn't notice that his necktie was slightly crooked, a subtle reflection of his own inner disarray.
He looked at himself in the mirror, contemplating the enigma that was Olivia. Why did she make him feel this way? He shook his head, reminding himself, "One step at a time, Alex."
Lost in thought, he headed out, oblivious to the slightly askew necktie that hinted at the tumult within him.
When Alex arrived at the building where his company was located, he immediately saw the woman who was the culprit of his sleepless night. Olivia was standing by the elevator, wearing high-waisted, wide-leg trousers in a neutral tone, paired with a simple, well-fitted white blouse, nude pointed-toe heels, and a tailored, structured blazer in a matching neutral shade. Her long chestnut brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail. As Alex approached Olivia, he cleared his throat, trying to gather his thoughts. Olivia turned to face him, a polite smile on her face.
"Good morning, Mr. Mitchell," she greeted him, her voice calm and composed.
Mr. Mitchell? I thought. Snap out of it, Alex. She clearly drew the line last night. A line you cannot cross.
"Good morning, Olivia," he replied, returning the smile. He couldn't help but admire how effortlessly she carried herself in the minimalist yet stylish outfit.
The elevator arrived, and they stepped in together. As the doors closed, Alex mustered the courage to strike up a conversation.
Alex was surprised when Olivia suddenly approached him. His heartbeat raced.
"You seem to be in a hurry, Mr. Mitchell," Olivia playfully said to Alex as she straightened his crooked necktie.
"And, done!" she declared, flashing a smile at him.
She's so cute. What the *!@#*!, Alex? She's your secretary and she's five years younger than you! Get a grip!
"Oh, t-thank you. I didn't notice that." Alex is still stunned by what happened. He can feel his cheeks burning. He can't even look at her due to embarrassment.
"No worries, it's my job after all." she said smiling.
As the elevator doors opened, Alex and Olivia stepped onto the bustling office floor. The morning sunlight streamed through the large windows, casting a warm glow on the sleek desks and busy employees.
"Everyone, may I have your attention, please?" Alex's voice resonated through the open space, drawing the gaze of his employees. The employees paused their work and turned their attention towards their CEO, curious about the interruption.
"I would like to introduce you to someone special who has joined our team. This is Olivia Dawson, my new secretary," Alex announced, his eyes glancing towards Olivia. He could feel the collective curiosity in the room.
