"Uhm, okay. I love you, I mean I love your coffee, after all."

Uhm, okay. I love you, I mean I love your coffee, after all.

WHAT THE !@# WAS THAT?! Since I met this guy again, my already messy life has spiraled into chaos. I only took this job because I wanted to study and become a nurse. I hate getting tangled in unnecessary drama, especially something like a romantic relationship with my boss. I've been holding it in for almost a month now. Is he like this with everyone or is he just flirting like Frederick?! Ugh!

I was so irritated that I finished the cocktail Tom made in one go. Now I'm here at Lantern's Haven, hoping to cool down. Alex has a busy day of meetings, so I figured I'd be safe from seeing him tonight. Plus, no night classes anymore. I wonder if I'll be accepted into one of the schools I applied to... and if I'll get the scholarship. Ugh.

"Easy, girl. What's bugging you now? Your mom, Ellen, school, or your new sexy boss?" Tom asked, clearly amused. I shot him a glare, but he just laughed.

"Seriously, Liv. Why don't you just admit it? You've got feelings for your boss."

I rolled my eyes. "I don't have feelings for him. Besides, men are all dogs," I snapped, sipping my cocktail.

Tom sighed. "Liv, it's been three years. Cut yourself some slack and let yourself be happy again."

I saw the sincerity in his eyes. Ever since I left home and stayed with my grandma before she passed away, Tom has been the one person who never pitied me. He's always been there, especially when the guy I thought I'd spend my life with cheated on me. That's why I trust him with everything.

"Why don't we just be together then?" I teased.

He rolled his eyes. "We're both gorgeous, Liv. You know that. But I like your boss, not his type," he said, shaking his head with a deep sigh. I couldn't help but laugh at him.

"I don't get you! You're letting a big fish slip away," he added.

"Just keep my drinks coming. I need them tonight."

The morning sun sliced through my bedroom window, a sharp reminder of the heaviness in my head. I must've drunk too much last night. Slowly, I sat up in bed, blinking to clear the haze from my vision. Something wasn't right. My room was unusually clean... and the bed felt way too soft. And... was the décor always this fancy?

Wait a second. I looked around the room, trying to place it. Everything looked familiar but... different.

The king-sized bed, pristine with snow-white sheets, felt like it belonged in a luxury hotel. I must've slept like a log. What the !@#?

The walls, painted a soothing cream, caught the morning light and made everything feel peaceful. The city skyline outside the window added an urban flair, giving the room an expensive, modern feel.

A dresser stood to one side, polished and immaculately arranged—an antique pocket watch, a framed photo of a happy moment, a vase with fresh flowers, their fragrance filling the air.

The walk-in closet loomed, hidden behind sleek sliding doors, its contents organized with military precision. Tailored suits, polished shoes, neatly arranged like they belonged to someone who never left a thing to chance.

Seated near the window, an armchair invited me to relax, the panoramic view offering a quiet retreat from the city's bustle below.

As I sat up fully, everything clicked—and I nearly fell back into the pillows. This wasn't my room. Worse, this was Alex's room.
