Alex
Several days have passed since I visited Olivia. I don't know if it was right not to see her. I really wanted to go, but I didn't know if I should act on what I wanted just because I wanted it. I glanced at my phone. No messages from Olivia. I was about to return my phone in my pocket when someone suddenly called me. I immediately checked—it was Brent.
Alex: Why did you call?
Brent: Dude! Where are you?
Alex: Still at the office.
Brent: I'm at Lantern's Haven.
Alex: I have a lot of work.
Brent: A lot of work or are you just heartbroken?
I furrowed my brow at Brent's teasing.
Alex: Just handle it—
Brent: Should I just call Olivia then?
Alex: I'll be there.
I ended the call and quickly made my way out.

As I entered Lantern's Haven, instinctively, my eyes searched for Olivia. I imagined her by the bar counter with Tom, our eyes meeting. I would divert my gaze because I couldn't contain my feelings whenever I saw her beautiful eyes. But she wasn't here.
I headed to Brent's usual spot. Brent immediately put his arm around me as soon as I settled on the barstool next to him, and Tom nodded and smiled at me.
"Dude! Glad you made it. This one's for you," Brent said, handing me a drink.
"I didn't come here because I'm heartbroken," I replied, taking the drink he offered.
"No wonder you look like you haven't slept in a week," he quipped, shrugging.
"I'm just worried about her."
"What happened?"
I took a deep breath before speaking, "She's having some family issues."
"Oh, and then? We all have family problems. My wife picked a fight with me again."
Secret note: Brent is married.
"Stop fooling around. You should be grateful Lily hasn't divorced you yet."
"I'm just looking, dude, not tasting."
"It's all the same," I retorted, exchanging my drink.
"Fine, Mr. Smitten with Olivia."
I shot him a glare, but Brent just laughed.
"Oh, why? Isn't it true? Since you met Olivia, you've been like a teenager in love for the first time. Well, I guess it is your first time."
He let out a hearty laugh while I just drank quietly. Olivia crossed my mind again. I wonder if she's okay. Has she eaten yet?
"But you're really in love, aren't you?"
I glanced at my reflection in the drink I was sipping. I guess I am slowly drowning in my feelings for Olivia.
"Yes," I replied to Brent.
He patted my shoulder. "Congratulations, brother. It's just the start. You've got this."
After finishing the bottle of alcohol, Brent and I headed home. I opted to hire a driver to take me. As I sat in the back seat, Olivia crossed my mind again. Her cool, sapphire eyes that held warmth when you looked closely. Those mischievous smiles that left you mesmerized. Her confidence and authority she exuded. Her captivating voice and cute laughter—I'm really in love with her.
