Desire, Nailea and Delilah all sat on the plane that was taking them back to their home in sunny California.
Des knew she was being over dramatic but at the same time she felt she couldn't stay there with him. She'd just keep getting sucked into his web and when shit goes south again, then what?
"Desiree?" Nai called to the girl who was far off into her thoughts.
"Yea?"
"You're hurting that stress ball," Nai pointed to the stress ball in Desiree's hand with the huge hole in it.
"Fuck," she whispered so her daughter wouldn't hear. She was having mixed emotions about her decision. She was so on edge about going to New York to begin with but now that she was leaving she just wanted to cry.
The three girls sat in silence for the rest of their plane ride. The silence was peaceful and dreadful all wrapped in one.
Desiree engulfed herself in work for the ride and getting everything in order. She found it kept her from crying.
She felt so bad about taking Delilah from David. I mean that girl adored her dad. He loved his little girl to pieces.
She never seen David so happy as to when they were all together. Des was very guilty indeed but she couldn't stay their and she damn well couldn't leave Delilah across the country without her.
When the plane finally landed in LA the girls all got off and collected their luggage. It was still middle of summer and since there was no rush to get home she decided they would go to the mall.
Her car was still in the parking lot of the airport and when they all got it it felt like deja vu.
"Are you hungry baby?" Desiree asked Delilah as they pull out of the parking lot. As they drove the words please don't hate me bounced around in her head.
"Yes!" Delilah said smiling as she played on her Ipad. "Can we get Chick-fa-la?"
Desiree smiled at the small girl and nodded as they drove to the nearest Chick-fa-la.
Desiree sat in her home office looking over more work stuff. She needed anything to keep her mind off of David.
It wasn't working.
She saw him in everything she did. Every step she took made her think of him. She would look at Delilah and see him.
She just wanted to call him and hear his voice. So thats what she did.
She picked up the phone and dialed his number just for it to go to voicemail. She tried again but she got the same outcome. Out of frustration she slammed her phone down on the desk.
She wanted to cry but she heard the door bell ring and she knew she had to pull her shit together.
When she opened the door she put on the fakest smile ever.
"Hi-" She was stunned at the face that met hers.
"Desiree you must really hate me but I don't care because I love you and I know I've given zero reason for you to believe me but I am prepared to pack everything up and move to Los Angeles to have just a chance with you. I want our family together and I promise I won't so much as look at another girl if I get to call you mines again," David ranted and Desiree was begining to cry. "Oh no did I say something wrong? Did I upset you? oh-"
Desiree grabbed the boy infront of her and pulled him into a long kiss. The two moved in sync and when they pulled apart they both had smiled across their faces.
"I am pretty fucking dramatic," Desiree laughed and her boy just smiled at her. Before he could utter another word though, their daughter came running in.
"Daddy!" She jumped into his arms and hugged him tightly.
Finally the world was at peace, finally these two lovers could have the perfect love story they deserved. Finally, their journey had ended but it was one everyone would remeber
All too well.
