Y/n paced her apartment, her phone clutched tightly in her hand. She had returned from Milan a few days ago, and ever since she had been avoiding Hoseok. The tension between them had reached a breaking point, and she needed some space to sort through her feelings. Finally, she made a decision. She would call in sick to work and join Namjoon on his flight. It was a temporary escape, but one she desperately needed.
Dialing Namjoon's number, she waited anxiously until he picked up. "Hey, Namjoon," she greeted, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Y/n, hey! How are you?" Namjoon replied warmly.
"I... I need a break. Can I join you on your flight? Just for a change of scenery?" Y/n asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"Of course, Y/n. You know you're always welcome," Namjoon reassured her. "I'll arrange everything. Just meet me at the airport."
Y/n packed a small bag hastily, leaving a note for her assistant about her sudden illness, and made her way to the airport. She boarded Namjoon's flight, feeling a mix of relief and guilt. She knew this would upset Hoseok, but she couldn't bear to face him right now.
Meanwhile, in Toronto, Hoseok paced his office, a storm of emotions brewing inside him. He had expected Y/n to return to him after her trip, but instead, she was avoiding him. He dialed her number repeatedly, only to be met with voicemail each time. It was infuriating and unsettling—a feeling he rarely experienced.
When Namjoon's flight landed, Y/n and Namjoon made their way to his residence. The atmosphere was calm, a stark contrast to the tension simmering back in Toronto. Namjoon poured them both a drink, sensing Y/n's unease.
"Thanks for letting me tag along, Namjoon," Y/n said gratefully, sipping her drink.
"Anytime, Y/n. You know I'm here for you," Namjoon replied sincerely, his gaze soft on her.
Back in Toronto, Hoseok's frustration boiled over. He called Namjoon, needing answers. "Namjoon," he said curtly as soon as the call connected. "Where is Y/n?"
Namjoon sighed inwardly, knowing Hoseok's temper all too well. "She's here with me, Hoseok. She needed a break, so she came along on my flight," Namjoon explained calmly, trying to diffuse the tension.
"She's avoiding me," Hoseok stated flatly, his voice edged with a rare vulnerability.
"She just needed some time," Namjoon said diplomatically. "I wouldn't do anything to disrespect you, Hoseok. Y/n and I are just friends."
Hoseok took a deep breath, trying to rein in his jealousy and frustration. "I know, Namjoon. It's just... she's important to me."
"I understand," Namjoon replied sincerely. "Give her some space. She'll come around."
Hoseok ended the call with a nod, feeling slightly reassured yet still unsettled. Y/n's absence gnawed at him, forcing him to confront his feelings more deeply than ever before.
Meanwhile, at Namjoon's residence, Y/n sat quietly, her thoughts swirling. She appreciated Namjoon's support and understanding, yet her heart remained tangled with conflicting emotions for both Namjoon and Hoseok. As the night wore on, she wondered what her next move would be, knowing that sooner or later, she would have to face the consequences of her decisions.
_______________
The next day
Y/n found herself standing outside Namjoon's office in the Bangtan Enterprise building, steeling herself to ask for a change in roles. She knocked on the door, and after a moment, it opened to reveal Namjoon, looking both surprised and concerned.
