As promised, Nandini & Nakul walked to the old part of the palace as soon as night time came. They made sure to avoid the guards and sneak past them.
"Nandini....humme jaana chahiye." Nakul whimpered. Nandini rolled her eyes and glared at her brother.
"Abhi toh aaye hai...kuch mila bhi nahi."
"Shayad bhoot ji soh rahe honge....acha hai na? Hum dono ki jaan baksht gaye....ab chalo!" Nakul replied.
"Nakul...tumhare bakwas sunne ke liye waqt nahi hai humare paas. Rehna hai toh raho varna niklo...par hum kahi nahi jayenge." Nandini told him.
Nakul of course decided to stay with her even though he was terrified. Suddenly there was a noise & Nakul jumped.
"AHHH! BHAGOOOO!" Nakul yelled out, he grabbed Nandini's hand to run but Nandini pulled away. In the moment, Nakul didnt realize and started running away without her. Just moments later, he realized Nandini wasnt with him so he turned back but the place was now filled with smoke. "Nandini! (cough! cough!)"
He could hear Nandini coughing but couldnt see her through the smoke!
"Nandini! Kaha ho tum? Nandini!!" Nakul tried to wave the smoke away. Finally the smoke cleared and there was no sight of Nandini. Nakul panicked and looked around for about 30 minutes but couldnt find her. "Nandini? Nandini? Hai bagwan.....bhootji ne Nandini ko pakad liya??? Humme Maharaj ko batana hoga!"
"Nakul!"
Nakul stopped in his tracks and turned to see Nandini behind him. He ran to her and hugged her tightly, tears in his eyes. "Tum thik ho....tum thik ho. Hum toh darr hi gaye they!"
"Woh toh dikh raha tha....humare bina hi bhaag gaye?" Nandini scolded him.
"Humme laga tum piche hi ho...." Nakul tried to defend himself. "Lekin...tum kaha gayab ho gaye? Aur....vapas kaise aa gaye?"
"Chalo." Nandini smirked. She pulled Nakul along with her.
"Nandini..." Nakul tried to stop but Nandini was too strong for him. She pulled him into one of the rooms and there on the ground was.....
"Guruji?!" Nakul stared in shock to see the 75 year old man who was the royal advisor/teacher of Mewar's king and eldest member of the court. He was unconscious, gagged & tied.
"Dekha? Humne kaha tha na koi bhoot vhoot nahi hota." Nandini smirked proudly. "Chalo...ab tumhe inko Maharaj ke paas leke jaana hoga aur kehna ke tumne pakda hai inko!"
"Lekin...jab Guruji unthenge toh woh sach nahi bata denge?"
"Aisa kuch nahi hoga...kyunki inhone humme dekha hi nahi!" Nandini told him.

"Rajkumar Nakul....hum sab aapka bohot bohot abhaar hai." Manik said. He looked at Guruji with disappointment. "Aur Guruji....aapse yeh umeed nahi thi humme. Aap sirf humara nahi...aap toh pitaji ka bhi Guru reh chukke hai. Itni izaat karte they hum aapke! Aapki himmat kaise hui humare mehal ke andaar itne saare katal karne ki?"
"Hum kabhi kisi ko maarna nahi chahte they Maharaj." Guruji replied. "Hum toh...bas apna kaam kar rahe they....par jitne logon ko humne maara...unko maarna zaroori tha. Rajkumar Abhay ko bhi."
"Kaam?" Manik scoffed. "50 saal se aap yahan mehal mein ek guru hone ke aar mein afeem bech rahe they....aur yeh gunna chupane ke liye aapne na jaane kitne logon ki jaan li hai...phir bhi keh rahe hai ki aap sirf aapna kaam kar rahe they?"
"Humme bhi ghar chalana hota hai Maharaj. Aap toh Raj gharane ke hai...aapko nahi paata ke ek Guru ho ke bhi humara aur humare parivaar ka ghar nahi chal raha tha. Pitaji Guru they iss liye humme bhi yehi karna paara...lekin yeh hum kabhi nahi chahte they!
"Agar paison ki kaami thi toh humse baat karna chahiye tha aapko." Maharaj Prithvi spoke up.
"Aapko koi afsos bhi nahi hai na?" Manik asked. "Unn logon ke jaan aapke liye kuch nahi hai?"
"Humme apna sach chupane ke liye jo karna tha...wohi kiya." Guruji replied with no emotions. "Uske liye agar humari jaan bhi le liya jaaye toh koi ghum nahi. Vaise bhi...ab toh humara umar ho gaya hai."
"Bandhi bana lo inko!" Manik told the guards. "Aur inke beton ne jo inka saath diya hai...unko bhi!"
Now Guruji looked worried.
"Kya laga aapko Guruji? Humme paata nahi chalega? Aapne khud kaha na..umaar ho gaya hai aapka. Toh yeh jo vyaapaar chala rahe they aap humare mehal ke andaar....yeh puri tarah se akele toh nahi kar rahe they na?" Manik said. "2 saal pehle jis dasi ko maar diya gaya...woh bhi aapke bas ki baat nahi hai. Aapke beton ne kiya tha na?"
"Nahi..nahi...sab humne akela kiya tha!" Guruji insisted.
"Aapke beton ne apna gunna kabul kar liya hai Guruji. Ab aap teenon zindagi bhaar karaghar mein rahenge!" Manik declared.

Manik was in deep thought when Shaan entered his room.
"Manik...Guruji ke baare mein abhi bhi soch rahe ho kya?"
"Nahi...Guruji ke baare mein nahi. Nandini aur Nakul ke baare mein soch rahe they hum." Manik replied.
"Unn dono ke baare mein kya sochna hai?" Shaan asked.
"Nakul ka kehna hai ke unhone Guruji ko pakda." Manik said.
"Haan...."
"Lekin humne sunna hai ki Nakul kaafi darpok kissam ki insaan hai. Aur mehal ke uss taraf toh bhoot ki kahani tha...wahan jaane ki himmat toh humne bhi kabhi nahi ki. Phir yeh kaise hua ke Nakul jo itna darpok hai woh wahan gaye aur Guruji ko pakad ke leke aa gaye?"
"Hmm...par agar Rajkumar ne nahi pakra unhone aisa bola kyun? Aur kisne pakra?" Shaan asked.
"Humme lagta hai.....shayad Nandini ne."
"Choti Ranisa?" Shaan looked shocked. "Aisa kyun lagta hai tumhe? Matlab...burra mat manna par Rani Nandini toh itni choti si hai...woh kaise?"
"Kyunki agar yeh sab Nakul ne nahi kiya toh uss waqt wahan uske elava sirf Nandini hi thi. Aur Nandini ke baare mein bohot kuch hai jo humme nahi paata. Humme lagta hai ke humme unke saath aur waqt bithana chahiye.....sach paata lagane ke liye."
"Humme bhi yehi lagta hai....waqt toh bithana chahiye, par sach paata lagane ke liye nahi, woh aapki patni hai...iss liye." Shaan said.

Thoughts?
Guruji had no actual role so he wasnt a character I had introduced....he was just a way to get Manik suspicious of Nandini.
