"Mom! I'm going to the village today!" I call as I pack my satchel.
"Are you sure?" My mom says. "A velai was spotted last night. It might not be safe"
"Which one?"
"They said it was a pixie"
I tear down the stairs and see my mom frying something.
"Pixies are weak," I scoff. "It's the witches they should be worrying about." I grab an apple.
"Just be safe though!"
"Okay, okay."
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆"Faeya! FAEYA!" I call to my best friend.
"Kay!" Faeya called back. "It's good you came down to the village today. I heard the hunters are telling their tales this night."
"Their adventures again?" I groan. "It's always the same thing. They went to the woods near the border, they shot a werewolf, blah blah. The werewolves are probably even-"
"Sshh!" She shushed me. "Didn't you hear what happened last night?"
"They spotted a pixie, didn't they?"
"Not only that. Mr Goldstein, remember him?"
"Oh yeah! He's the one that sells anti-werewolf charms, isn't he?"
"Yeah! At around the same time, they spotted that pixie, they spotted a werewolf near his shop! They went to check if he was okay, and he wasn't there!"
"Maybe he went on his nighttime strolls again, near the border? He was put on a spell by witches, they say, after he crossed over to Velvimr. He's crazy, always trying to go back to Velvimr in the night."
"He's not crazy! Why would he try to go back to Velvimr when he sells anti-velai charms? Trust me, he was kidnapped by the velai!"
"You know what? Scratch that. Why did you shut me up?"
"They can be anywhere, watching us right now! Waiting to snatch us up, take them to wherever they took Mr Goldstein!"
"They probably took him to Velvimr of course! But why?"
"To finally end him, duh! Anyway, why did you come down to the village?"
"I don't know. Just wanted to walk around, buy a thing or two, you know?"
"I get that. I'm just gonna hang around till the hunters come back to tell their stories." She starts to run off, then she turns back. "You better come!"
"Another night of boring tales! So interesting!" I yell back, smiling.
I walk to the nearest shop to do some window shopping. I look at the window to see a beautiful dress behind the glass. Then in the reflection, I see a pair of yellow eyes in the forest. It's like it's drawing me in, until...
"Hey, Kay! You want it?" My friend, Scaena, says. She works at the store. I blink and look at her
"Nah, just looking. Thanks though." I look back at the window and look behind me. The eyes are gone.
