Richard

I put on my coat and give myself one last quick check in the mirror before I leave my room and go back to the kitchen to get Lizzy's muffins.James is still there and looks at me impassively as his usual self but he quickly looks away as he is busy making more treats. Man, sometimes I really think I need to change my eating habits but I don't dwell on it too much, after all, whether it's labour or ingenuity, the human body needs plenty of fuel to function properly.-:I'm going to Elizabeth's, you go ahead and finish what you have to do, anyway if I need you I'll call you, take care old man:- I greet him with a wave of my hand, and he naturally replies with a -:Yes, Master:-.As soon as I'm outside I breathe a sigh of relief and set off.
Getting to Lizzy's house is no big deal but it's definitely better than working on piles of papers. Going for walks by myself makes me feel good, there's no constant need to think of something to say like when I'm with someone, I just have to look even fleetingly at my surroundings:
businessmen discussing the economy, women congratulating each other on new purchases, children laughing and running around and all the other citizens of this city, mostly beggars and thieves, but still people.
I wake up from my thoughts to look at the road and cross.I don't have time to take the first step when someone slams into me causing me to lose my balance a little, yet I had checked well before going.A young girl with dark blond hair and dressed in black is leaning her hands on my chest, she lifts her head and two big grey eyes look at me expressionlessly.-:Oh, sorry, I wasn't paying attention:-she says in an almost inaudible voice.-:Don't worry Miss, are you OK?:- I ask her trying to be as polite as possible. She flinches and wipes the skirt of her dress -:Oh yes, I'm fine:- she says still imperceptibly.-:NINA!:- a young boy, probably her age, comes running towards her. He is also dressed in black, maybe they were at a funeral.-:You don't need to shout Paul, the gentleman can hear us:- she says still passively.I assure them that everything is fine and try to get away from the strange discussion.-:You have to stop wandering around as you please:-, heck! even from a distance I can hear the boy's complaints.-:What would have happened if Undertaker had found you out? A mess, that's what, silly!:-.Interesting, there are a lot of people who are in close business with that wacky being, I don't know anyone who is his enemy. My investigative side tempts me to follow them to find out what connects them to each other but I have a feeling I might just get in trouble. 'But 'FUCK IT' is what says  my subconscious. It will only be for a couple of minutes.I pull up the collar of my jacket a little so as not to be recognised and follow them about thirty paces away. They say nothing for most of the way until the boy, Paul, asks a question,-:Do you know where Vivy-san is?-:Hmm, who knows, probably behind us, we left him alone to go to the café:-.-:You mean YOU left him alone, I just came to find you:-.There they go again, arguing just like a few minutes before. Vivy-san...they said they are going to the Café and this third person was with them, at this point he will be behind me and since I met them earlier I might attract some suspicion, at this point I stop following them and enter the first shop I find next door and just as I suspected, he was behind me.
Vivy-san is a young man, in his twenties if not more, tall, black-haired and smartly dressed in a suit that is also black. He greets the two of them with a hand and joins them standing in the middle, probably to stop them fighting, and they walk away quietly.I didn't find anything abnormal, I was fooled to no end.I leave the bankruptcy shop I was in and head back, this time at a brisk pace, I don't want to be too late.

One of the maids opens the door and ushers me into the room.-:Where is Elizabeth?:- I ask.-:The young lady is in her room sir, I'll call her:- and after a bow she leaves the room. After a minute she comes back worried and asks me to go upstairs to talk to Lizzy, it's a bit of a long shot, it's not like her to let other people into her room, not even me.I go up the stairs and find the door closed.I knock lightly -:Lizzy, are you OK?:-.-:Come in:- a distraught voice tells me.I open the door and enter a tidy and decorated but dark and silent room. Elizabeth is sitting on her big bed, sad and with her hair all down.-:Close the door please:- she asks me without looking at me. I do so and approach the bed.Elizabeth motions me to sit next to her and I do so. Now we would be face to face except that she is staring into nothingness.-:Lizzy?:- I ask her and she still looks at me sadly.-:Am I going crazy Richard?:- she asks me as a tear lines her face.-:What?:- I ask her confused.-:Is it true that you and my cousin-?:- she bursts into tears without finishing the sentence, but she doesn't need to finish it for me to understand what she means, despite that I ask her to go ahead.
-:I always had the impression that Ciel was hiding something from me and it was the same with you, I always thought it was for your work and that is the reason I never asked anything:-.I'm not saying anything, I'm waiting for you to continue to really understand.-:Maybe I'm just crazy, maybe it's all an illusion, but are you and Ciel really damned?:- she asks me desperately.I inhale calmly, place my hand on hers and do what I have to do.-:I don't know who or what made you believe this idea but you mustn't get overwhelmed over such a bad taste of a joke, you are my fiancée, you are one of the best swordsmen in England and most of all, you are the most charming woman I have ever met so don't beat yourself up over something that is nothing more than a hoax:-.I wipe the tears from her blushing cheeks and kiss her. She lies onto me as if I have lifted a great weight off her shoulders and then hugs me.-:I brought James's muffins, if you'd like you can come downstairs and get one and forget about this.Still hugging me she nods but falls asleep on my lap shortly after.Phantomhive, you owe me a very fat thank-you.

Ciel remained worried about Elizabeth until the butler returned. The butler apologised for the delay and was about to leave when he felt that something was holding him by the sleeve of his jacket. He turned and saw a bowed and silent Ciel.Ciel removed his grip and only said -:Nothing:- then with his hand under his chin he began to think as he walked slowly around the house.Sebastian took his time cleaning, not that it was very necessary, but he had nothing to do but that and doing nothing was not his style, when he found himself cleaning the large windows of one of the rooms overlooking the garden, in the distance he saw his master lying upside down with his head dangling over a deckchair. He stared at him puzzled for a moment. -:He is depressed:- he sighed.

The Count, unaware that he was being watched, was looking at the view from that bizarre position. He removed the blindfold from his eye and slowly adjusted it to the sunlight. He exhaled at the top of his lungs a breeze that made his blue hair flutter. He heard Sebastian's now familiar footsteps approaching.-:Well?:- said the butler.-:Would you make me some milk with honey?:--:I don't think so, Bocchan:--:Will you lie down too?:--:I don't think so either, Bocchan:-.Ciel turned his head as if to look at him even though it was a bit difficult in that position.-:You don't know what you're missing:- he then said.-:Oh really, what would I be missing?:--:I'll only tell you if you lie down.Sebastian sighed a little annoyed, but complied with his master's conditions.Ciel moved his hands behind his head as if he wanted to have a more comfortable view.-:Do you know that if we lived with this point of view, you and I would be angels?Sebastian looked in the same direction as Ciel who resumed speaking, -:Upside down it is Hell that is Heaven and Heaven that is Hell, and we would be the inhabitants of an upside down Heaven:-.
-:That would be a real mess, don't you think?-:Yeah, it would take thousands of angels like Ash to maintain even the slightest peace of mind:- he then said with amusement.-:Will you still make me milk with honey?-:You made me lie on the grass to look at this place upside down and my uniform got dirty, besides, if you ingest earth food you'll end up sick so, no:-Ciel didn't answer, to tell the truth, he knew Sebastian would answer him that way.-:Are you going to tell me what's wrong with you, or do you have to mope around until the end of time?-:I think I made a mistake:- he said with a serious expression.
