Connor rode up to the scene of the crime in Lieutenant Hank Anderson's car. Heavy metal music blared through the speakers as rain fell on the roof of the car. Hank parked against the curb near their destination: an old, decrepit house in a poor part of Detroit. Already it was surrounded by officers, onlookers, and paramedics.
Hank turned off the car and turned to Connor. He pointed at the android and said, "You wait here. I won't be long."
As the older man started to get out of the car, Connor patiently replied, "Whatever you say, Lieutenant."
The Lieutenant glanced back at the dark haired android, then mumbled to himself, "Fucking-A, whatever I say." He slammed the door and made his way out into the rain, avoiding the questions being thrown at him by reporters.
Connor's programming recognized that he had conflicting orders, so the higher priority order is chosen: follow Hank. He stepped out of the car and followed the gruff lieutenant. As he tried to cross the holographic police line, the police android stationed there stopped him. "Androids are not permitted beyond this point," it told Connor.
Hank, who heard the other android, shouted in an annoyed tone, "It's with me!"
The android allowed Connor to pass. As he approached his reluctant partner, the human chided him. "What part of 'stay in the car' did you not understand?"
"Your order contradicted my instructions, Lieutenant," Connor replied.
Hank glared at him. "You don't talk, you don't touch anything and you stay outta my way, got it?" He snapped.
"Got it," Connor agreed.
As they walked up to the front of the decrepit house, Detective Ben Collins approached them. "Evening Hank. We were starting to think you weren't gonna show."
"Yeah, that was the plan until this asshole found me," the older man gestured towards the android in question.
Detective Collins glanced curiously at Connor. "So, you got yourself an android, huh?"
"Oh, very funny," Hank snapped back. "Just tell me what happened."
As Connor listened to the debrief from the detective, he took in his surroundings. The house was a small one story that was poorly taken care of. The grass was overgrown, the fence around the yard was falling down and there were piles of trash on the porch. Inside was even worse. Connor was unable to smell, but the other officers on the scene commentated on a foul odor that filled the house. The small living room was dirty, the recliner, tv stand, bookcase and small table in poor condition and just as dirty as the floor and walls of the room. On the far side of the room there was a partly destroyed wall that led to the bedroom, and beyond that a doorway that led to the kitchen. Slouched against the wall to his right was the victim, Carlos Ortiz. He was an oversized male in his mid thirties with black hair and a beard. His shirt had multiple tears in it and was covered in blood. Above him painted in blood and in a Cyberlife sans font were the words "I AM ALIVE."
Overall analysis: the house was in disarray, and had been that way long before Ortiz had died.
"I thought I recognized that voice!"
Connor looked up as a professional looking woman came out of the kitchen and walked towards them. She had brown hair tied up in a ponytail that sat high on her head, and was wearing gray eyeshadow that made her blue eyes pop accompanied by pink lipstick on her full lips. She was wearing a white collared button up shirt with a dark jean jacket, dark skinny jeans, and ankle high leather boots. Attached to her waist was a Detroit Police Department badge. He did a quick scan of her face to retrieve her information: Manfred, Clara; Born 03/26/2008// police detective; criminal record: none; Height: 5' 6"; Weight: 150.4 pounds. This was the other detective that Connor was to report to, who he was told would already be at the crime scene. His analysis also told him that her eyes were red and sore from crying. She had recently been sobbing about something. He wondered what.
