Days turned to weeks, and Clara healed.
When Christmas came around, Captain Fowler and most of the officers came to the hospital to have a Christmas party with her in her room, and she rang in the new year of 2040 surrounded by her family.
She was often visited by Kara, Luther and Alice, who told her they weren't going back to Canada until she was fully better. North and Josh visited, and they apologized for not being there to help. Leo often came to see her, and the two siblings started to form a close relationship. Gavin and Nines stopped by a few times, bringing a humorously large 'Get Well Soon' card and a large basket of gifts from all the members of their precicent. Hank and Carl visited often, worrying about her health as two old dads tend to do about their kid. Markus and Connor would come by, but Connor would linger in the back of the room and barely make eye contact with Clara and wouldn't speak.
It killed the two of them to be so close, yet so far away from one another. They never got a chance to be alone after their argument, so they couldn't discuss it more. They were also far too proud to ask for time alone to discuss and possibly apologize for the argument. Clara could only look longingly at Connor's back, and Connor could only watch his love from the other side of the room.
Finally, Clara was to be released.
