Chapter 10: Something fishy

Jisoo.
Jisoo.
Jisoo.
When I say that name my heart flutters.

After our meal together last night she insisted that she will or rather her driver will drive me home but I decline because it is too much already.

My heart is overwhelmed by all the things that are happening. Walking the streets and riding the subway will distract me from all these things.

She grudgingly accepts my decision.

I offered to clean our mess but she declined and told me someone will clean it for us.

Now it is already 12am and I am still awake. I am lying flat on my bed and all of the things that happened today are still replaying in my mind.

I don't think I can sleep tonight since I am still giddy and hype.

What will happen today? What should I do if I saw her? Should I turn away and avoid her? Or just nod like we are friends or acquaintances?

"Aaah!!!!" I shouted to release my frustration but of course I cover my
face with my pillow since Scar might be sleeping already.

I don't have any clue on what to do! This is my first time in my life that I interact with my crush. I wish I had a best friend who can be my confidant.

Yes Scar is sort of my Best friend but I am so shy to ask her. She might think I am too naive since in the first place she is the one who points out to me that I have a crush on Miss. CEO..I mean Jisoo.

I turn on my side because my back is numb already for lying too long. I have no Plan since I cannot think straight so I'll just wing it.

Thats it. That's my goal to just go with it.

8:30 am the next day
I look around before I enter the building. The guards at the portal is looking at me suspiciously because I am just standing beside the door looking around if the coast is clear. To make sure Jisoo is not in sight.

After checking that she is not near in my vicinity I entered the building and scan my ID.

As usual I smiled and waved to all the 8 guards that are standing on each ID kiosk and in return they just nod at me in acknowledgement.

I arrived at the mail room without any hitch so I started my work already and accomplishing all of my backlogs yesterday if I have any. I am busy sorting and delivering all the documents that I did not notice that it is already 3pm.

I missed lunch again. Minho and Han invited me for lunch but I refuse because I need to finish my back logs from the previous day.

As I am starting to separate the documents in each department the room
phone rings. This phone never rings. I don't think no one even knows the number here in the mail room.

I slowly approach the phone and lift the hand piece to my Ear.
"Hello?"
A voice so cold answers me.

"Why did you not take your lunch Jennie?"

Shitake mushroom! Its Miss. CEO! I mean Jisoo!

"Hi mam. How's your day mam?"
Distract her!
"I am fine mam. The weather is nice outside don't you think?"
I was met with silence.

"Answer my question Jennie."

I can't lie. How does she know I skip lunch? "Fine. I need to finish all my back logs and I am so immersed in my work
that I forgot that it is already past lunch. I am sorry."

She muttered somethig like what am I gonna do with you or something.

"What did I say about taking lunch Jennie? Its been what 22 hours since I
told you to never skip your meal!"

What the fudging fudge?!
Why is she angry at me for not eating? She should be happy because I am busy doing my job and not just lazying around.

"Stay there and don't move. Wait for 5 minutes someone is coming."
Then she hangs up.

The heck? She calls me just to scold me and then she hang up? What is she
upto? She is going down on my crush list. She is now below cole sprouse in my list.

Someone knocks on the door and a man in a suit enters. He hands me a paperbag and then he went out. Thats it. As if he is not here 2 min ago.

I walk to my desk and opens the paper bag. What insides shocks me.
There is a tupperware with sandwiches and fried chicken on it. Another. container has a salad. There is another one with cookies and cakes. Lastly there is a jug that has cold orange juice. I can see that it is freshly squeezed because there is still pulp floating on top.

The phone rings again and I have a hunch who is calling. I have an urge to not answer it but I know I'll get in trouble if I don't answer it.

I answer the phone and her voice came through.
"Did you receive it?"

"Yes."

"Good. Eat it all. Don't bother to throw your trash someone will pick it up later."

"Ok. Thank you for this."
I can hear him sigh on the other end of the line.

"You're welcome. Now eat your meal."

She hang up again on me.
I went back on my desk and sit on my chair. I started to open the containers one by one.

Is this normal? Your boss giving you food just because you forgot to take your lunch? Does she do this to everyone. Maybe?

And how did she know that I skip lunch? Is there someone taking attendance at the cafeteria?

I grab one sandwich and eat it. Oh my gosh. I squeeled in delight. This is the best tasting sandwich I've ever eaten in my whole life! I'm not joking!

Suddenly Minho and Han entered the. room.

"Why are you screaming! What is happening!?"<<<Minho
"What the heck? Why do you have so many food? Did you get it delivered from downstairs?" Han ask me.

What should I say? Should I tell them the truth or lie to them? What is the proper etiquette in this kind of situation?

If I told them Jisoo gave it to me I know there will be many follow up questions.

"Yes. I asked the restaurant downstairs to deliver it for me."

"Girl I have to say but all of this food looks like it was prepared by a michelin chef in a 5 star restaurant! " Minho

I just smiled because I don't know how to react!

"Do you want some? It is enough for all of us."

"Yes I do! Free food yey!"

Minho and Han grab one sandwich and chicken each. Did I mention that they already ate their lunch an hour ago but still they are hungry?

"What is the name of the restaurant? I want to order too because their
The food is delicious." Minho asked.

Shoot! Think Jennie think!

It is not obviously from Mcdonalds.

"Uhm..you know Teddy? The one who manages the private elevator?
Yeah? You know him? He's the one who ordered it for me. I'll ask him later if I saw him."

"What do you mean? You did not ask him from what restaurant did he order this food? You just accept it?" Han asked.

"Yes."

They looked at each other and said
"You are so weird. Even if you know him you should not just accept food without asking where it came from. Didn't your mother teach you that?"

I can see Minho hitting Han in the arm after he said those words.

"No. The manager of the orphanage didn't tell me that. Happy?"

Han's face becomes sober.
"I am sorry Jennie I got carried away with my comments."

"No harm done. Let's just enjoy our food."
