When we got to the parking lot, Wooyoung asked if we could walk on the dock since he'd never been there. I agreed, but very reluctantly since by now my feet were covered in blisters.
"Are you okay?" he asked when he noticed me limping.
"No, my feet are killing me," I complained.
"Oh, I have some slides in my car if you want," he offered.
"Yes, please."
We quickly walked back to the car as he looked for them.
"Actually all I have are some sneakers, is that alright? They might be a little big."
"Anything is better than what I'm wearing right now."
I quickly put them on, immediately sighing in relief. He laughed at me as he threw my pair in the trunk.
"Alright, let's go," he said.
As we walked down the dock, I noticed him feeling a bit uneasy.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm just kinda afraid of the water. I don't know how to swim," he admitted.
I nodded my head.
"Now that you know you're probably going to push me in, right?" he joked.
"Well, that'd be cruel considering I don't know how to swim either."
"Guess we'll both die then."
I laughed as we headed further down the dock. When we got there, there was a railing in the middle of it. We both took a seat, and the metal sent shivers down my spine.
"Won't your brother be worried that you're not home yet?" I questioned.
"No, it's fine."
"You guys really are close."
"Yeah, I'm close with all my family members."
"Well, are you closer to your mom or dad?"
He started laughing as I shot him a weird look.
"Oh shit, I forgot. I'm sorry," I whispered.
"It's fine. But, for what it's worth, my dad and I were really close when he was alive."
"I'm glad to hear."
He nodded as he looked up at the sky.
"That must've been a burden on you, being one of the older siblings during his death. You were probably so young already having to deal with your own grief and your younger siblings' as well," I said.
"Yeah, but, we're all good now." He smiled.
I nodded my head, staring at the sky as well.
"Y'know, I kind of wish I was more like you sometimes. You seem very independent. I also always admired your honesty, even if it was hurtful sometimes."
"I said things that hurt you?"
"Well, last semester when you told me you'd only eat dinner with me if I paid for you was pretty brutal. And then when you told me to split the hotel room I was pretty hurt by that too."
"I didn't mean to offend you. I was just dealing with some things. And buying a new car."
"Well, that's all in the past now." I grinned as he nodded his head.
"The stars really are pretty tonight," I commented.
"I know. I haven't been out like this in a while so I haven't gotten the chance to see them."
