lucifer

if i stumbled upon a time machine
how i would love to travel into the past
grasp your hands, shriek and cry
"you've got lucifer in your belly!"

you will love it so, your sweet spring child
but soon it will plague every waking moment
you will wish it had never been born
as lucifer crawls out of your belly

you are ignorant at first, doting on the devil
but even now it eats you from the inside out
you hide the pain, shrug it off as motherhood
lucifer's feasting on your belly

and when you are dead and bloody,
lucifer will realize what it has done,
howling in agony, "she did one thing wrong and it was me"
lucifer's weeping over your belly

i wrote this back in 2022 and thought i had published it back then as well but 🤷 here we are

i thought it fit the vibe of most of my other poems...though i wrote one recently at like 4 am and it was also eating-adjacent... 🤔 angst seems to curb the late night snack cravings like no other /j
