dream

As I lay awake in bed,
I think of the past and ahead,

Of all the things that could have been,
All the words that I kept within.

I think of the people who surround me,
Those who don't know what they want to be.

And as I fall asleep in bed,
With a million thoughts in my head,

About the futures that never unfold,
People's stories that remain untold.

I dream of many liabilities,
Which come with hopeful possibilities.

Lying in bed on a Tuesday afternoon does wonders for contemplation, I guess. I was looking at the gold balloons (shaped like stars) that were in my bedroom (left over from my birthday).
